Hang on…how does the phone know you’ve changed the back cover? Surely they haven’t serialised those??
From the article:

"Apple requires technicians to complete "System Configuration" after replacing the back glass on iPhone 14 models" and "It's not clear yet what happens if this software calibration process is avoided — possibilities could range from a simple non-genuine part warning in iOS to functionality like wireless charging being impacted".

Edit: right, good point. What is used to trigger removal of the back cover!?

I wonder if this was achieved by just removing paint (?) from the original glass back.

Met a new lady a few weeks ago. She just undressed in front of me for the 1st time, and I'll admit I'm struggling with her appearance a little! ;)

Hey that's Trans Lucy. She looks different now, all skin and bones. Fair warning though she's been around, I could see right through her back then. But you know what "they" say... beauty is only skin deep. ;)

You must be young. Transparent telephones were hot during the 1980s and 1990s.

Witness the popularity of the Conair SW205

This is just a modern take on an old idea. What's old is new again. 🤷‍♂️
