iPhone 12 Pro Max had 22-23W charging, iPhone 13 Pro Max had 27W. Was there an improvement this year?

I'll take it. Was surprised to see it on 4nm process node when all the rumors seemed to be suggesting it was going to stay on 5nm. This probably helps the efficiency so the display can get even brighter, the display can always stay on, and the battery life still increased. Pretty wild. Won't be long until we're on 3nm and then 2nm and then Moore's law starts coming apart at the seams, lol.

Latest rumors are that Apple is the only Customer for the initial TSMC '3' implementation and that is probably won't go into a high volume (iPhone) product. Probably Mac Pro device and maybe the Macbook Pro line.

Everyone (AMD/Qualcomm/Nvidia/and Apple) is waiting for TSMC '3E' implementation, which won't come up until early 2024. So iPhone won't go 3nm until 2024 -https://fuse.wikichip.org/news/7048/n3e-replaces-n3-comes-in-many-flavors/

I doubt Apple would go 4nm for anything less than two years worth of Production / 100m+ units.

Nice to see added battery time, will always take that.

Oh, don't be sad, there's been rumors for several years now that the less durable and slightly larger USB-C connector is coming next year (iPhone 15).
Less durable than lighting?????? No way, no how, lighting is terrible reliability-wise. And yes, I have several USB-c devices and haven't had a problem with a connector yet.

Is this just for Wifi?

5G is a really harsh drain on battery life.
Cellular battery life is really difficult to measure reliably. I'm sure 5g battery life will be better as the iPhone 14 will have a newer Qualcomm 5g modem.

My 13 Pro's 5g battery life was a lot better than the 12 Pro.

It takes ages to transfer over ProRAW photos or ProRes video off an iPhone via Lightning which uses 1990's era USB 2.0 speeds.

As someone who was there, we only had USB 1 in the 90s—you don’t even want to know how slow it was!

I looked it up, USB 2 came out in 2000 - you're right!

Still, USB 2 speeds on a "Pro" device is inexcuable in this day and age. Especially a device that can shoot 48MP RAW photos...

Lol, the 13PM was already destroying competition with its battery life, now its even better. Jeezzzz, Apple.
On the same year they add always-on and brighter display, pretty impressive. 4nm surely helping. Excited for this beast of a phone.

The iPhone 14 has almost the same specs as the iPhone 13. Are people really gonna spend $100 extra on a phone with a small spec bump?

Ah, of course they will lol....

The price increase of £150 in the UK is frankly insulting. Especially since apple is taking advantage of the UK’s financial crisis at a time where energy costs are crippling households. Apple, on the other hand, rake in billions in profits each year and do not need to increase their prices. Especially since they haven’t in America!

I think dynamic island is cool but it’s not, on its own, a reason for me to upgrade. Whereas last year the introduction of a much bigger battery as well as ProMotion and improved camera sensors were worth it to me. The new camera improvements on the 14 series seem to mostly target low light photos (I’m not dissing the improvements they are nice!) but the “modest” improvements on an already battery life monster don’t justify an upgrade for me. And the price increase is quite frankly insulting.

The battery life difference between 13 pro max and 12 pro max was HUGE. Whereas the increase here is a modest “up to 1 additional hour” (not when using cellular).

Always on display and brighter display are nice but my 13 pro max is plenty bright even when outside and HDR videos pop! I can’t see any real world benefit from an even brighter display. And I’m not particularly fussed about an always on display.

I was really hoping for a faster charging upgrade…android competitors reach up to 120W and can charge in as little as 20 minutes while I see there is still no improvements in charging on the 14 Series…come on Apple!

The Apple Watch series 8 is also £100 more expensive and only new feature I can see is a temperature sensor…why the price increase? Or is that, again, only in UK?

Don't buy it, these devices are not worth these price hikes, vote with your wallet. Nobody bought the iPhone XR and Apple cut the price.

Apple primarily prices their products in USD (and so surely their cost base predominantly in USD). They then convert that to other local currencies upon release of a new model. With, usually, a single-digit percent premium in overseas markets.

Since the Pound Sterling (and similarly the EUR) exchange rate to the USD has tanked, with the Pound losing about 20% against the Dollar over the last 12 months, product prices in GBP have increased accordingly.
