Apple's iPhone 14 Plus, its latest 6.7-inch non-Pro iPhone, officially launches this Friday, October 7, and Apple's website is currently showing shipping delays into next week for all models and configurations.

Apple's U.S. order page now gives delivery estimates between Tuesday, October 11 and Thursday, October 13 for iPhone 14 Plus models in Blue, Purple, Midnight, Starlight, and PRODUCT(RED) colors with 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB storage capacities.

The launch of the iPhone 14 Plus comes three weeks after the other models in the iPhone 14 family became available, and a full four weeks since pre-orders began.

The shipping delay is in stark contrast to a check we made one week after pre-orders opened, when there was no delay for any iPhone 14 Plus model. At the time, delivery estimates for the ‌iPhone 14‌, iPhone 14 Pro, and ‌iPhone 14 Pro‌ Max were delayed by days and in some cases weeks.

The ‌iPhone 14‌ Plus is meant for customers who want a larger ‌iPhone‌ without all the features of Apple's high-end models, but demand for the new model has not reached the highs that Apple anticipated.

On the Monday following the start of pre-orders, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said the iPhone 14 and ‌iPhone 14‌ Plus had seen "lackluster" pre-order results that were worse than those for the third-generation iPhone SE and the ‌iPhone 13‌ mini, indicating that Apple's positioning of the two new standard models may have failed.

In response to the poorer-than-expected demand, Apple is said to have asked assembly partners to transfer some iPhone 14 production capacity to the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, the latter of which has reportedly seen the highest demand so far.

There have also been reports that Apple has shelved plans to increase production of the two devices. On the other hand, the ‌iPhone 14 Pro‌ and ‌iPhone 14 Pro‌ Max continue to see high demand.

Both non-Pro iPhone 14 models have also already depreciated in value more than twice as much as the iPhone 13 in the same time frame last year, according to one report.

The ‌iPhone 14‌ Plus, like the ‌iPhone 14‌, features the same chip as the iPhone 13 Pro, camera improvements, and other minor enhancements. Reviewers called the iPhone 14 an "iPhone 13S," noting the little improvements and changes compared to its predecessor.

I thought iPhone 14 Plus wasn't in enough demand and Apple was asking suppliers to cut production !!! Or was it just macrumors members' forecasts..

I'm genuinely curious to see how this one sells once it's readily available at retail. I imagine it'll outperform the 14, likely the 14 Pro, but will it match or beat out the 14 Pro Max?
I suspect the 14 and 14 Plus combined will significantly outsell the 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max combined. The people here at MacRumors in my iPhone 14 series sales poll seem to disagree, but I wouldn't be surprised if the 14 Plus turns out to be #1 bestseller. And if not #1, then #2.

It's a very interesting question. At least here in the U.S. alot of people just get their phones from their providers which say they're "free" (which make them pay for them through their monthly plans) and here folks are being offered the 14 Pro Max for free (commercials are all over the place on TV).

My guess is if the actual prices were being paid up front by the customer the Plus would certainly sell better than the Pro Max. But that is not the actual sales environment most users have here in the U.S. - so the demand for the 14 Pro Max will be getting a big boost from that.

Normal pricing at Apple Canada is CA$1249 vs CA$1549, meaning that the Pro Max is 24% more expensive than the Plus.

I checked pricing with my local carrier. (The monthly payments below are the same for the same plan.)

iPhone 14 Plus - CA$499.99 plus monthly payments
iPhone 14 Pro Max - $CA799.99 plus monthly payments

Going with carrier pricing with the 24 monthly payments, the up front downpayment for the Pro Max is a whopping 60% more than the Plus. This is going to factor heavily into a lot of people's purchase decisions.

Big doubt on it outperforming the 14 Pro.
The 13 vastly outsold the 13 Pro by a huge, huge margin, although it was partly because nobody bought the 13 mini, meaning the only viable option in that price range was the 13. We shall see with the 14 series now that there are two viable non-Pro phones, in the 14 and 14 Plus.

someone actually ordered this? just get a 13 pro max...
This only works initially while there is still stock, but not for the rest of the year, since the 13 Pro Max has been discontinued.

With the price they are asking for in EU and other parts of the world outside USA this will be a hard sell. Only the hardcore fans are hopeful for this to be a good seller. Iphone 13 Pro Max is at the same price and is the sane choice.

As mentioned, the 13 Pro Max has been discontinued. This "sane" choice isn't much help in say January 2023 when there is no stock.
