You are right! Not only the games but also other apps are experiencing fps drop issue. That is very annoying. Also, I tried to upgrade my iPhone 14 Pro Max to iOS 16.1 beta2. But it did not work.

My iPhone 12 Pro Max works totally fine with iOS 16.0 BTW.
Yeah 13 pro is fine as well on 16.

I upgraded to the 16.1 beta and it’s much smoother (app launching - I don’t play games). It’s not 100% but significantly better than 16.0.1.

I am facing this issue from iOS 15 even on my iPhone 12 Pro. It looks like issue with multitasking because every single lag in opening and closing animation means the RAM is full and system trying to free some space.
I don’t want to jinx it but seems to be resolved with 16.0.2 in my limited testing - hasn’t happened for me yet since the update, whereas I’d see it multiple times every hour beforehand.

…spoke too soon :(
Ah dang. So I posted about my issues with Mario Kart tour in reddit, displaying a video with a brand new stock 14 Pro max and my regular 14 Pro showing the lagginess. Nintendo actually reached out to me and asked me a ton of questions to investigate it. Hope its resolved bc I only play one game haha.

The 16.1 beta def improves it. It still happens but very rarely. 16.0.1 was awful for me.

Glad I found this discussion. After 2 calls with Apple support the only advise they could give me was: clean install without putting my iCloud back up back.... :-s . Just set the whole phone and my apple watch up.
Do you guy thinks this helps? Clean install and configure everything again and not using the backup?

There are indeed very noticeable hiccups in closing apps. It's random and can effect any given app (third party or not). I swipe up to close the app and it will hang for just a second before continuing the animation.

This is so frustrating to see such a high end phone struggling...

It helps to restart the phone but eventually it comes back.
First I thought 16.0.2 fixed it to, but it was only because a update means a restart.

Nah, this is the same stuff they had us do 2 years ago with the 12 Pro. Everybody was all “oh it’s a problem with your phone’s hardware” and “you gotta set up the phone as new”, and then they fixed it with an iOS update.

The 16.1 beta fixes 95% of this issue, yet the thread continues about people concerned about their phones.

Clean install didn’t help. I’m on 16.1 public beta 2 and still see issues on games and phone

Do you have reduce motion on? I only notice the hitches with it on.

I’m having what seems to be a version of the same problem in the game Beatstar, along with a lot of other people in the Reddit (e.g. )

When I touch the screen to press a note, everything seems to jitter and lag, which is a problem because timing of presses on notes is kind of the point of the game! 😒

This is happening for me on a new iPhone 14 Pro running the stock 16.0, and turning off ProMotion doesn’t make a difference. Really hoping a point release comes along to fix this soon - I’ve still got my old 12 Pro and suppose I can use that to play Beatstar in the meantime (and iOS auto updates are turned off! 😅) but I really need to sell it to recoup some of the cost of the new one! 😬 So I suppose it comes down to how much I want to play the game vs how much I need that money… oh dear. (It’s not that I can’t quit, it’s that I don’t want to! 😝)

Same exact issue with me and Mario kart. It’s a waiting game at this point.

Just reviving this thread to let you know that Brawl Stars is also unplayable on the iPhone 14 Pro, iOS 16.0.2 installed. it's super choppy. And BS isn't even an intensive game. iPhone 13 Pro with all betas of iOS 16 throughout summer, no issue.

Iphone 14 Pro Max 512g. I play most of the games listed in this thread and downloaded the ones I don't for testing.

Pokemon go- No issues
Wild Rift- No issues- But 14 not supporting 120 mode right now :(
Genshin- had to redownload. ran around open world for 15min no issue i see but dont really play this one.
Mario Kart- No issues- Don't play a lot just did a few races.
Brawl Star- Dled to test. Played a few rounds didn't seem to have a issue
beatstar- Dled to test. played 5 songs. All ran fine only issue was with opening a box seem to skip a frame or 2

maybe we can get a few other people with 14's pro's to test also and report back to see how big this issue is. Also what size models do you guys have? do you have issues watching videos or scrolling webpages/apps?

Me and my wife both got iphone 14 pro max. FPS are dropping in all games like wild rift, pokemon unite and moba legends for me.

I downloaded games on my wifes phone to test and she has the same fps issue.

Has anyone got any fix or news ?? This is so annoying.

I took a screenshot of pokemon unite fps drop.
