Am i the only person who gives absolutely no f***s about dynamic island?
No, you’re not the only person. I’m looking to upgrade to an iPhone 15 and I would love to have a way to turn that dynamic island garbage off.. it was and still is nothing more than a solution in search of a problem. My iPhone 13 and iPhone 12 worked just fine without the dynamic Island, I don’t see any need to start using it now.

It’s not half bad. Nice to be able to tap on it to open up navigation or music etc. But, that could be done on other phones too with software. Exclusivity for sakes of exclusivity.

If I need to open an app, I will tap on its icon on the home screen. The dynamic island is nothing more than a solution in search of a problem, and apple gave it features to make it appear more convenient to legitimize its existence. This is nothing more than adding a feature just for the sake of adding a feature, and marketing it in a way that makes you believe that is OK. This is the kind of resource misuse that causes Apple product to be so damn expensive.. it’s like Apple completely lost their focus somewhere along the way. The fact that there is no option to turn this silliness off shows just how far Apple had their head buried up their backside.

I’m hoping Apple comes to their senses, sees how stupid Dynamic Island really is and kicks it to the curb.. just like 3-D touch, the butterfly keyboard and the touch bar. If Apple would devote itself to fixing problems, instead of wasting resources coming up with bull**** that no one asked for, their products would be much better.

Yeah, but it’s a single tap vs a series of gestures. Like an action button on the screen. Switching it off would garner no benefit.

exactly, it's the 'touch bar' for phones. Absolutely useless and just an excuse to charge more money

Had the iPhone 15 pro and barely noticed it.
Thought on reading this thread have a wee look at YouTube to see what I am missing, not a lot seems to be the answer.

This is false. Learning a new way of doing something is fine until the company that implemented the feature reverses course and now we have to unlearn the new way and go back to the old way.

Do you remember 3D Touch that Apple implemented in 2015? it offered a new way of doing something.. it was a new and time-saving feature. Where is 3D Touch now? Those of us who became accustomed to that feature on iPhones now have to unlearn those habits and go back to the old way of doing things when upgrading devices. The same goes for the touch bar on MacBooks, I don't see it mentioned at all on the newest macbooks.

One of the reasons I dumped android is because Google can’t seem to make a decision and stick with it - have you seen how many apps are in the Google graveyard?

Having the option to turn dynamic island off completely would be a huge benefit to those of us who are getting tired of reversing course every few years.

Your living your life way to dramatically my dude. You don’t need to press it if you feel so strongly about it.

For third party apps I am ok with it since most give you the ability to control it. Unfortunately, Apple apps don’t give you the choice.
