Either people somehow use their phone for heavier things, or I am wildly overestimating this, but… I saw, overall, better numbers on MacRumors for the 6+ and the 6s+ back when they were new. Some people are getting 7-8 hours (extrapolated) with the majority of the use being Safari. I can get almost that on an iPhone 6s on iOS 10 with 64% health and full LTE (about 6-6.5 hours).

The plus models I mentioned routinely surpassed 12 hours with that use. I don’t know if everyone has every setting on at very high brightness, if usage patterns have changed in ways I am not seeing in settings, or 5G’s impact, or there’s a different reason, but like I said, I’m not impressed.

At a minimum, unless all settings are on, with that usage I’d expect 11 hours, as a bare minimum. The Pro Max is supposed to blow even my Xʀ out of the water. These numbers scrape past my 6s. Yeah, usage is probably heavier here (higher brightness, more settings, and 5G, I’m very conservative settings-wise), but like I said, these numbers are all below what I saw back on the plus models’ threads.

Yeah especially compared to the previous 13 pro max

unlike the 13 pro max having better battery than 12 pro max

than 14 over 13 isnt the same

So I’ve been getting around 4 to 4.5 hours of screen active time for 50% battery usage the last week or two.

AOD off
Background refresh off
Mostly just safari browsing, YouTube videos maybe 45 mins to an hour, Apple Music for an hour and 4G data for two hours.

I think the battery on my 14 pro max is pretty good.

The last charge was yesterday ( Tuesday morning) and this screenshot was taken at like 8:25 PM EST. It's now 9:15 PM EST as I type this and my battery is at 19%.

AOD off
Background refresh off
50/50 Wifi & Cellular

To be fair, my phone is idle during work hours and I only really use it during lunch breaks ( Youtube videos and social media scrolling etc). Then after work is more of the same. Still Two full days off one single is great. Definitely couldn't do that with my 11 pro max.

Charged to 100% overnight and taken off charger this morning at 0900. It is currently 2040 and battery is at 71%. Usage has been fairly light today. Will see a better usage graph tomorrow as it will come off the charger at 0600 as I get up for work, and will get used quite a bit to play music over Bluetooth in the company vehicle as I run deliveries.

Charged to 100% overnight. Off charger at 0600. Currently 2023. Phone usage today was mainly Apple Music over Bluetooth in a company vehicle for about 7 hours total. Phone is on 5G auto and showed mainly a 5G connection on the screen all day until I got home and got on WiFi at about 1700. Battery usage has definitely improved over the last couple days since the installation of iOS 16.1 RC.

So, same details as yesterday, only difference is today had an hour of streaming music to a Bluetooth speaker in a very low signal environment which was a warehouse that is mostly steel. Not conducive to a good signal. Off charger at 0600 and the time the screen shots were taken should be in the screens.

Can someone please tell me if this is good? It’s been 3 days of light use now, which sounds impressive, but it feels like the battery ticks down a percentage point every couple of minutes during use.

This is 5.45H total screen time since 100% charge, now at 35%. Does that seem right? I updated to 16.2 public beta about 3 days ago btw. With the numbers they quote on these phones it doesn’t make sense to me that a work chat app, Safari and playing downloaded audio drains the battery.

That's what I typically get (maybe slightly more) - I get around 1 hr screen active time for every 10% battery usage.

Where did you get the first three screenshots of your pics?
Thank you for your speedy and helpful reply. I am totally obsessive about the battery when I should be just enjoying the phone, haha.

The pics are from two places, one of them I went to Settings -> Battery -> Last 10 days, then tapped individual days on the graph.

The other screenshots are from Settings -> Screen time -> See all activity. Then if you choose day view and scroll down, it allows you to choose a previous day from the top

Hope that helps, sorry not sure which screenshots came from where haha

I'm coming from an 80-something-% XS Max, so any of this improvement is welcome. But I'm a little regretful I didn't get the 13PM with its monster battery... oh well, hoping iOS16 gets better optimized and we get better battery life

I am averaging around 4-5 hours of screen on time with no modifications to background refresh (they’re all on), some weather widgets and AOD always on.
16.0.2 or whatever was really bad on the battery, with 16.1, now 16.1.1 I feel like I’n getting close to my old 13PM, given the brighter display and AOD, so it’s pretty good.

Well, a day after restoring from 16.2 beta to 16.1.1, I’m getting excellent battery life. I did switch to LTE and low power mode during YouTube, but other than what’s shown, used the phone as normal since taking it off the charger at 9AM-ish.

Not pictured apps are social media and image editing. Happy with this, still a lot of juice left!

Unfortunately 13 Pro and Pro Max have better battery life than the 14 Pro and Pro Max. There are threads on Reddit also confirming this.
Not using AOD, Lockscreen Widgets,
Or App refresh. Screen brightness at 25%
And I still can’t match the Battery Life of the 13 pro or pro max

Any improvement in ios 16.1.1 over 16.1??
Battery life has gotten a lot better on iOS 16.1. This is on heavy usage. 100% Single charge. Still had 20% of battery life left. I could have easily pulled 8 hours or so. Many people are reporting the battery life has significantly increased on iOS 16.2.

I’m not charging my phone every night anymore.
Roughly I’m going through the entire day and by bedtime I have 75% left on my Pro Max.
So I charge it now every second night.
I’m happy with that.
