Is anyone else experiencing their iPhone 14PM heating up while watching "Reels" on Facebook. I can watch a few and all of a sudden the back of my phone as well as the front starts heating up. his just started a couple of days ago and my partner has the same phone, but his never heats up.

I had the same issue as you. I thought it was across all social media apps but watching reels/vids from youtube or instagram, the phone dosent heat up. Only on facebook. Ive tried resering the phone n even delete and re download facebook but still the same issue. Could be a bug thats causing this problem.? Need help here, cos im gonna go back to apple for a new device if it dosent improve.

Those are all software bugs. Exchanging the iPhone with another one of the same type will not solve it. Just wait for updates, it will be solved.
But why only a handfull encountering this issue? and not the entire ios16 user? Im talkin abt fb reels heating up the phones….Ive search on fb heating up iphones but most dated back 2 years ago. None from this date.

Maybe not everyone is sensitive enough to notice that and posts about it. Maybe it's a facebook bug that only happens to some users. Maybe it's specific to a certain phone model. In any case it's for sure not a hardware defect that warrants replacement if it only happens in one app.

And the brightness one happens to many people so it will be solved with an update. Replacing the phone won't fix it.

Bugs are like that bud. Even larger Operating Systems like MacOS and Windows has issues that only a small amount of users actually have. It is hard to tell for sure but one thing to keep in mind is the fact that by making these phones faster, they also can create more heat when processing. A video will use more processing power than just scrolling through your news feed.

I would probably wait for 16.1 to launch publicly and see if any of your issues get sorted. The iPhone 14 series has had a rough launch in terms of software bugs.

I’ve never encounterd any problems since my ownership from the XsMax-12proMax. I hope this issue would resolve quickly. Thks btw

iOS 16 is just a really buggy release. It has been some time since Apple had such a bad release at launch. Some issues are going to happen and should be expected however.

I get that, but Apple needs to find a fix for these bugs sooner than latter.

So iOS 16.1 pb5 didn’t resolve the issue. I had 3 hours of screen on time yesterday and the phone was almost dead so I did erase all content and settings and restored from iCloud backup this morning and so far today it is much better. Watched some reels earlier and the phone is no longer getting hot and losing huge chunks of battery. I don’t know if you returned your phone or not but you may want to try to restore it.

I did this before, erase all content to the bone…. After restoring from icloud n whatnot, it seems fine. But after sometime, the issue returned. Only for facebook reels. Other apps with reels or even youtube vids seems fine. Only feeakin FB reels. I hope FB identify this issue.. or the phone resolve it by itself. Im still booked for replacement device for now.. i hope this issuee ends soon.
Less FB reel for now.😁

I have the same exact issue right now - my phone only heats up while watching reels video on facebook. Could be a bug, cos otherwise the phone is fine, I even run a benchmark test to see the performance under full load, but the result was normal. It gets warm but not as hot while watching reel videos.

I hope this issue will surfice without users to replace their device. Or tou can forget about watching FB reels at the moment.😂😂.

Listen, I’ve had this problem without even using the phone. It began a few days ago. I have no social media. No social media apps (I don’t consider YouTube social media) just YouTube and financing apps. I don’t even charge the phone past 85% either. The first time it happened a few days ago I decided to turn everything off, Location, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth etc all off. Lowered brightness all the way down, but still super hot. I ended up turning the phone off for some hours just to allow it to cool off on its own.

It happened again just now and I did a quick search which led me to this forum post. I was watching a Halloween movie with my family ( 2 hours away from the phone) soon as the movie was over I went to grab it from my desk BURNING HOT!

Last iPhone I had was the iPhone 4, I figured I’d try this new one iPhone 14 Pro Max to be exact since it had some new features such as the floating island etc. It’s been cool experiencing something different, however this overheating issue is something I’ve personally never experienced. As I’m typing this the rear and sides of the phone are burning up. This is unfortunate. I’ll attempt to return it tomorrow and just look for a better option.

Good luck to all. I have nothing bad to say about iPhone/Apple, great experience, I own and iMac and an Apple 4K TV. Just a bad break with this annoying issue.
