Unfortunately, the iPhone 14 Pro Max sticks with 20W charging,

I don't understand their comment about 20W charging.
I own the 13 Pro Max and the maximum charging rate is 27W and with the 14 PM is supposed to be 30W

I use the Anker 45 W charger on the phone and my M1 iPad Pro 12.9 (which has a maximum rate of 38W).

This setup works really well. Anker has new 30W Nano III chargers for those that just want the quick charging.

See for 30W 14 Pro Max:
Talks about iPhone 14 Max in the article. No such thing. It’s iPhone 14 Plus.

Is this test including always-on display being enabled? Most of the reviews I’ve seen so far are pointing out to the 14 Pro Max battery life being the same or even slightly worse than the 13 PM with Always-On

EDIT: I think most of these reviews were about the iPhone 14 Pro, not the Pro Max. Seems like the 14PM has a better battery life compared to 13PM than 14 Pro compared to 13 Pro

Yes, MKBHD noted it’s a bit less with AoD

The fact overall the battery is similar is awesome though. 13 pro/max had amazing battery

That sounds great for the Max, but how many more hours does the battery on the 14 Pro last over the 13 Pro and 12 Pro (my current phone)? Battery life have been somewhat of a disappointment for me on my 12 Pro.

Every since the 11 Pro Max, Apple REALLY stepped up their battery game. Since the 4s and every iPhone after that, my iPhone had a Mophie case with the biggest battery capacity attached to it. But since the 11 Pro Max, I don’t need one anymore. It literally has all day battery. I come home from a long day at work with like 60%+ battery left. It’s crazy. And when I upgraded to the 13 Pro Max? Battery was even better. So to think the 14 Pro Max is improved even more? So damn impressive

Remember the good old times, when a ipod-battery lasted 5 or 10 hours longer than the previous version?

I find after a year, my 13 Pro's battery hasn't held up great. Battery health is at 95%. And I would say I often — not always– have to charge it at least once a day. I would love to have true allday battery life.

Most impressive, as I'd avoided iPhone for many years and one of the reasons was battery life. The 13 Pro Max, my first ever iPhone, has done better than any Android phone I've ever had, including the Pixel 3aXL and Galaxy Note 4, so to then go and escalate that by a further two hours in high drain is the kind of stuff that really makes a device useful. One thing I've found with the 13 Pro Max is that, due to the capacity, charging speed isn't nearly the issue that it was for me before because the phone rarely gets drawn down enough during the day for it to matter....you can almost always charge on your own terms. Perhaps by the time I next update (16PM?) they'll be closing in on 20 hours?

"Unfortunately, the iPhone 14 Pro Max sticks with 20W charging,"

The article discusses the iPhone 14 Pro Max as I quoted in the first line of my comment.

Toms was thinking of the non-Pro models which do have 20W charging.

The fast charging works really, really well on my 13 Pro Max, but the phone does get a bit warm.

So the rest of the reviews were just guessing? Lazy lamers.

Sounds like battery is fantastic. Always on display might knock it down but sounds like it’s just like apple said - about the same as 13 with always on display or a little better.

My 12 Pro has a terrible battery - I must abuse them somehow. Down to 80%. I still get all day. Different people just use phones differently I guess.

My 12 Pro Max is at 89% battery health (2 years old). That's about the same as previous iphones I've owned (before the 12 PM it was the XS, which I think got down to 88% at 2 years old).

Wow, that is impressive. My 13 Pro has insane batter life. I'm usually around 50% when I plug-in at bedtime, after 15 hours off the charger. It's my favorite Apple device for so many reasons. Congrats to you all getting a pretty, new (and big) phone!
Unfortunately those same tests put the iPhone 14 Pro at 2 hours less than the 13 Pro. I’m surprised MR didn’t mention that as it is quite shocking.

I am happy apple is finally making proper all-day devices. I am enjoying this new direction away from "form over function".

Power banks are solution to the slow "quick charging" that you were hyping at your first comment also.
Technically yes they are but would you rather carry a power bank every day with you or have a faster charging mechanism?

Fast charging is good but for my needs I only found it helpful on 2 or three scenarios so far, and all of them when travelling. Every day life it won't matter to me if is fast or slow since I only charge it once in 24 hours, when I am sleeping.
