That would be true innovation. What's lost in these tests is that foldable phones can flap their folds like wings for a soft landing.![]()
Or maybe you didn't throw it the right wayYep, I remember back in the iPhone 6 days, I was young and stupid and I tried to get my iPhone to finally break to get it replaced (it had a lot of scratches and the battery was starting to weaken) and it just wouldn’t break! I even threw it across the library. Nothing. A friend got his iPhone, same day it falls like 20 centimeters out of his pocket as he was tying his shoe and boom, huge crack around the TouchID area. Sometimes it’s just bad luck
Exactly what I came to say, put it in a rig so that a weight can be dropped on it in the same place every single time.Pointless test. They will crack differently every time they drop so it's impossible to say anything meaningful with drop tests.
I really like to see that. 100 pro max in line falling one after the other down at a stone floor 😂😂😂Those droptests are pretty pointless unless you take a large number of phones and average out the results.
It's kind of a bad design to make increasingly heavier phones with slippery glass backs that break when you drop them, isn't it? Unless you design them for the purpose of earning money via insurances and repairs.
Must be nice to be able to afford an iPhone 14 Pro Max *and* Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra just to destroy them.![]()
Can’t upvote you enough. Common sense like this is rare. For me, a senior, a case is like fire insurance, you have it, the house never burns. I drop my phone about twice a year. Never any damage. If a few millimeters of thickness means something to you, get a life.Sounds like we still need a case.
No such thing as a premium feeling plastic.I'll take a premium feeling plastic over Apple's EasyShatter™ body any day.
I’ve been using the Apple silicone cases with tempered glass screen protectors for years. I’ve dropped my phones many times (usually from waist height…even thrown them across the room a couple times out of frustration🤬) and they’ve always been fine.OK I'll do my best not to drop my Pro 14 Max. Do you guys think the Apple Silicon case is enough to protect an iPhone?
I think we can argue that they SHOULD be made to be droppable. They're a relatively small item we take everywhere we go and use often. It's inevitable that the average person will drop it occasionally.Phones were not made to drop…it’s a fun but pointless clickbait.
it is made of glass, and glass shatters when dropped onto hard floor.Sounds like we still need a case.
