Not budging. Waiting on the 17 “Air or “slim.” Seeing the capture button and the button press animations in iOS 18, lead me to believe the 17 “Air” will use these buttons all around, and have a much more hand friendly design. I am not buying into the mature market nonsense that people seem to fall back on. Microsoft and RIM did that.  has really staggered designs and innovation in favour of profits. Make something new and exciting that flexes their muscles in both hardware and software, and then I will pony up the funds. I went from an X to a 14PM after years of the S cycle iPhones. Until it feels like a massive upgrade for my personal uses, I am staying tight fisted with my money. Everyone has different wants and needs, but for me, FOMO is easily killed with Tim’s  these days, and their cringe marketing informercials like “Glowtime.” I don’t need them to reinvent the iPhone every cycle or two, I just want to see a company that makes the best products they can in hardware and software like they used to. Make something that they are proud to sell and use. Now it is all about margins and user experience be damned. It’s getting sickening to watch the same cast of characters spew nonsense and have little to show for it. The cost doesn’t have the same value anymore for me personally. We all know they can do better, and the 17 Air should have been old news by now and long in the tooth on the market already.

As an aside, anyone notice that one of the female presenters appeared to have her jeans on backwards? Is that a thing? The front pockets were shaped like rear pockets. Maybe she does that to carry a pro max in her rear pocket more comfortably. Must have lunch everyday with the people responsible for macOS System Settings.

I also try to upgrade every 2 years. I probably could push it another year but the trade in value will probably be $450 or even $400 next year. The battery life is also middling on my 14 PM.

That's my way of thinking as well.

Thinking of going from 14 PM to 16 Plus. I prefer lightning to USB C but would like a lighter phone and the camera button looks interesting. Might wait another year or two though, especially as finding a good replacement for the Apple leather case is difficult if you don’t want black, brown, dark blue or green.

Have a 14 Pro currently, and will probably upgrade to 16 Pro, and same goes for my wife. When we travel, we take a ton of photos, and having the 5x zoom and the better sensor for the ultrawide camera are both pretty appealing for travel photography. I need to do a better job of remembering to use the ultrawide, especially for our next big upcoming trip, which will involve a lot of nature viewpoints perfect for landscape photography. Additionally, I have used the volume button as my principal shutter release for years, so having a dedicated button that does that and much, much more is a pretty attractive proposition. I hate fiddling with the screen while trying to take a photo.

Moreover, I haven't been very impressed with the battery on the 14 Pro, and I'm hoping that the 16 Pro's larger battery will also be more reliable. We actually proactively replaced our 14 Pro batteries before our long overseas vacation this past June, because even though they were still at around 87% of peak capacity, in practice, they weren't making it through the day just sitting at our desks, so we knew that they'd be really bad for really active days of touring and taking photos.

Finally, it looks like my plan with T-Mobile allows for completely free upgrades (via bill credits) for us, so we might as well. Unfortunately, they've changed the terms slightly; if you pay the phone off early, the bill credits now end, so we won't be able to unlock the phones and use them with local eSIMs in Europe, but our included 5 GB of data should be enough for most of a foreign trip of typical length for us, and if we have to buy T-Mo data passes after that, so be it.

Will update although the changes are not so big.
What I trully care about is the USB-C connection for faster data transfer and improved cameras. (The 5x and ultrawide)
Next year they will update the front and rear zoom camera, I highly doubt they’ll make any physical changes to the phone so not such a big deal.
I think that if I hold up to my 14PM for another year the battery will get bad, it’s at 86% and almost 2 years, buut running on 16.7.2 LIKE A CHARM.

Love my Silver 14PM, but the battery life is bothering me, down to 86% and I've used a Belkin Duo Charger for at least the last year and a first party charger before then - both of which were bought directly from the Apple store, to me it seems like there is genuinely an issue with the battery.

Noted though, it plummeted to around 90% after the first year and has only trickled less than half as much in the next year so not as bad in comparison.

Right now have my 0% APR setup to purchase a Desert Titanium 16PM but could honestly go for any of the colours (other than white since I want a change). I wish the Desert colour was a little more bronze than gold (looks a little rose in some lights??)

Yep upgrading my 14 PM to 16PM. Just because I upgrade every 2 years lol. Tbh the 14 PM is the first iPhone I’ve had that’s basically perfect imo. First one I’ve never really felt the need to upgrade. Since my battery is at 88% I just figure why not.

People charge their phones too frequently, for too long and often with 3rd party chargers. There’s nothing flawed about it.

What's that have to do with anything?

It's the phone that governs the charge rate and duration, up to the phone or charger's max capacity whichever is less.

Nope. Payed straight out of pocket for it, and in Sweden they want 2k$ for matching 16PM variant (512GB). These small increments are just not worth it. Maybe in 2-3 years. 🤔

No…

The only improvement I see relevant to me is a better camera. All the other changes don’t seem like they would be helpful for me.

I would lose my Ring/ Silent switch.

I’ll wait for the 17 or 18 PM

I have honestly not heard of this yet. I personally have the iPhone 14 Pro Max and it's on 86% health at the moment (bought it at launch). The battery also seems much better than my previous XS Max.
I've had my 14 Pro Max since Dec 2022 and it's sitting at 89% max capacity and the battery is just fine. On the fence about upgrading. Really hate lighting and nice to get rid of one of my last items with it.

I am upgrading from 14 pro max to 16 pro max. I usually upgrade every 2 yrs. I love to travel and I want to invest on a phone with a good camera. I don’t like bringing bulky cameras with me during my travel so a phone with a good camera is perfect for me.

Maybe once they have Apple Intelligence in the EU. Until then, I might change the battery (it’s at 82%), but I don’t see a very valid reason to spend right now…
All the announcement were a bit boring this year… very underwhelming.

My 14PM is still solid. I might change the battery when it hits 80%. Currently sitting at 85%. Battery life is still good.

Definitely.

I'm getting about £480 for my 12 Pro Max

The 16 Pro Max is far superior.

Do it.

Upgrading from 14PM to 16PM. I was considering downsizing to 16 Pro and kind of regret that I didn’t. But my eyesight isn’t getting any better and I don’t own an iPad or similar so all browsing is done on my phone. Plus being a somewhat heavy user I need the extra battery capacity some days

Yes. I'm an iPad Pro user at work and I'm tired of having the Lightning cable and USB-C separate. I think it'll also be awesome to have a bigger screen. I upgrade every 2 phones anyway.

For me it’s the video features. I will use Apple LOG, the faster USB connection (can record to external SSD).
I will be getting the 16PM in 1TB.

On my 14PM it took 7 hours to download a full phone of pro res video through lightning.

Can’t wait to get rid of that damn connection and having a bag of different cables for teach device.

Apple trade in was also £575 and got 0% for 24 months so it seemed to make sense. The phone was worth £650 pre announcement but it’s hassle free with Apple trade in. They already deducted the value off the finance too - sure I can get more from a third party buyer etc but they’re a much bigger risk from past experiences and rarely give the advertised value (finding defects etc)

My close vision is a bit blurry, so I set all of my devices to larger display.

That’s my iPhone, iPads, and Macs.

Makes a big difference.
