You’re making a joke, right?
I’m staying on my 12 this year but the dynamic island makes me wish a little bit that this was an upgrade year for me. It looks like a really interesting new way of interacting with multiple apps. Good design.

Dynamic island wasn't just created to deal with the notch haters or to hide "the pill". I think Apple has long term plans for it.

I’ve said before that even after the pill is gone, Dynamic Island needs to remain as a key part of the interface. It should be here to stay for a long time.

I also think this will eventually be a standard part of the iOS UI, even when the physical part of Dynamic Island is no more.

It’s probably not a popular opinion on a forum dedicated to Apple products, but Microsoft’s “Live Tiles” interface was pretty dang awesome…especially on Windows Phone 7, which still featured hooks into Facebook and such that would allow you to easily see status updates from the people you cared most about without all the other noise.

Now, the App Store stunk and most of the social features got stripped out as the OS “matured” into Windows Phone 8 and then 10, but the interface was slick.

No one’s ever come close to matching what Palm achieved with WebOS, though. That was a mobile operating system way ahead of its time.

Window’s phone had a lot of nice features. It is too bad that it could never get a critical mass of customers and developers to survive and be an alternative phone platform.

Perhaps. But I also think there’s a chance it was a last minute plug to fill some gaps in an otherwise ultra “incremental” generation.
