Wow. Yeah, it was a joke. But there was some truth to it. I am talking about hardware post M1 and post Dynamic Island. Now the cutoff for Apple’s attention is post those two things.
Yes, the older phones got OS releases. But by the time of 15 on that 6s, it was basically just security updates. Which is great, better than Android.
But post M1 and Dynamic Island there is a noticeable hurry for Apple to drop the Intel models down the memory hole as quickly as possible. And they sure are spending a lot of time prettying up notifications for just one specific model, rather than focusing on the mess that is the rest of iOS 16 for everyone else.
What are you talking about? Why are you specific with M1s? Why is it weird for Apple to want to be done with Intel? Did they stop supporting their Mac customers with Intel chips? Do you realize what kind of an investment the M series is for Apple?
The ios15 part is also inaccurate. It is not just security updates. Obviously it doesnt support a ton of features, but what exactly did you expect for them to add a 2nd camera with a software update, or maybe a faceid? That phone was released in 2015 and it runs smooth in 2022. 24/7 for 7 years straight as a daily driver. Do that with a 2015 Samsung phone, I challenge you.
Also when did we get to "post Dynamic Island" exactly? The frigging thing was released just a few weeks ago...
And you were pretty straightforward before:
"If you don’t have the latest hardware Apple doesn’t care about you anymore. This has kind of always been true but it’s gotten extreme recently."
Either stick by it, or just admit it was a poor choice of words, there is no shame in that.
Every single year a new phone offers something new. Duh. Not just with apple, but any decent business company out there. What did you expect? Dynamic Island to be featured in every phone? Was Faceid featured in every iphone when it debuted? Do all Galaxy phones come with an S Pen or shoot 8K or all the features included in the flagship models?
Point still stands that any person who complains that "unless you have the latest hardware X company doesnt care for you", is an individual that obviously NEEDS the latest tech, but that obviously costs too much and he cant get a grip with that.
But the thing is that most people who will buy an iphone 14 Pro will keep it for 2-3-4 years. Just because you have a tech fetish, no company is at fault. Either deal with your NEEDS and decide to put a brake, or accept that your NEEDS are such that you cant do without them and spend the cash each year and stop complaining about it. Apple runs their Apple business. You run YOUR business. Take responsibility. It is your wallet and your needs.
