Hi, so the 14 series is a few months old now and I’m curious to know how your battery health is doing.

I have had my product red 14 one month now and the battery health has dropped to 98%, the lowest % I’ve had in such a short space of time on any iPhone!

It gets charged overnight with a 5w plug once to 100% and then depending on usage, a small top up from 50 - 80% during the day. Never gets below 30% before charging.

Then I’ll see people saying their phone is 9+ months old for example and at 99/100% health lol how is this possible?!

How is your iPhone 14/14+ 14Pro/14Promax doing? With what charging habits.

Probably the worst thing Apple did including the battery health lol as it causes unnecessary worry amongst a lot of users 😂😂

I have had the 14 pro max since sept 29th. Currently sitting at 100%. I charge it when it needs it, either at night or overnight. I use a normal Apple charger not sure of the charge. I don’t let it drop below 20%

when I had a 12 pro I did a lot of charging management (loading it only with a 5w plug, no MgSafe because of the heat etc.) and the battery health dropped to 99% after like a month or so. Therefore now I don’t care about this management any more and now I’m loading it with every plug I get, I use MagSafe, I let the battery drop below 20% and do all the “bad stuff” that someone who cares about the battery shouldn’t do. The result - after 3+ month the battery health is 100%.

Much like Lexio, I charge for convenience and I’m still at 100% health. My release-day 12 Pro was still over 90% when I sold it for the 14 Pro with the same habits.

For me that means an overnight charge on MagSafe (either on a dock or a loose MagSafe puck), it gets charged any time I drive (so morning and evening on office days for 20-30mins), and then topped up any time it drops below 30-40% during the day, which is rare.

100% still from release. No magsafe puck charging cause of degradation from the heat. No charging to 100% because of battery degradation, usually to 85% or so.

100% since launch day for my 14 pro max. I've been using Magsafe charging method and never used wired charging. Never had issues with battery health due to this. I'm aware that it causes heat but not noticeable. In fact my Battery capacity is still over 4520 MaH on my iphone 14 pro max.

I may need to change my charging routine! Lol. Surely it can’t drop 2% every month?! It only gets charged to 100% once a day (overnight) then maybe one top up to 80 if needed through the day.

How long do you plan on keeping the iphone? If you upgrade every year or other year, you shouldn't have to worry much about battery health. I can see if you plan to keep it longer then the 2 year. If you have applecare+, once your battery capacity goes below 80%, apple will replace the battery.

My 2 year old 11 pro had 87% health when I sold it. We'll see how the 14 does over a similar period. I have apple care+ so no reason to worry really lol I’ll try and ignore the battery health and enjoy it 😄

Life is too short to obsess over the battery percentage. There is nothing wrong with 98$ capacity after a month or two. Enjoy the phone and stop looking at the health percentage.
I’ll try lol there’s no right or wrong way to charge is there. People have different results good & bad from different habits. How do people maintain 99/100% after many months lol

99% after 6 charge cycles and battery capacity dropped from 4507mAh to 4297mAh. Phone is not exposed to extreme heat or cold. and use the charging cable supplied with the phone. iPhone 14 Plus.

Charging habit is just one thing but I think the daily usage also matters. I do a lot of Facetime calls on my launched 12 PM (1-2hrs weekdays) and battery is now at 82%. I don’t play games on my phone. Only video calls, chat and browsing. I don’t let my battery go below 30% if possible.

So the overnight charging could be the problem here? Sitting at 100% for many hours even with optimised charging…

Personally, I don't use Optimized Charging. I charge an hour or two before bed, then disconnect at 80-90%. If needed, I also charge when I wake up. That 30-60 minutes I spend dressing and eating breakfast is enough.

I’ve noticed that optimised charging isn’t very consistent. It hasn’t been active for the last few nights despite no changes to how my iPhone is being charged.
Think I’m going to ditch the overnight charging.

80/20 is old rule. Batterys have cycles. More cycles you use more damage your battery will take. 0->100% is one cycle.

Best one is to use half cycle per day, or less if it possible. When you have 50% -> charge to 100%. Thats half cycle.

If you want your battery to last, save those cycles.

Apple has different battery suppliers. Some suppliers are making terrible batteries which lose health faster. My iPhone 12 lost 13% health in 8 months. Now my 13 Pro Max is still at 99% after 14 months. Exactly same charging pattern.

Apple’s only criteria for battery manufacturers is the battery health cannot drop below 80% within 2 years. I believe iOS battery mechanism is tuned to show battery health above 80% till the device is under warranty. Once the warranty is over, battery quickly drops health.

I think it’s partially a lottery whether you get a battery which lasts longer. I’ve had both good and bad ones.

I do think that using MagSafe reduces battery life though so I charge via a cable unless that’s not an option.

I’ve had my 14 Pro since launch and it’s still at 100%. I charge overnight, every night. For about 90% of the time I’ve charged with MagSafe and 20W. But recently I’ve switched back to lightning cable.

Had the 14 PM since launch and it’s at 100%.
I hardly charge it to 100% simply because i allow it to charge for an hour and unplug.
I use a Samsung 45w and Anker 20w charger interchangeably.
