Seems like Apple pretty much decided their battery target a while ago and now everything is balanced around that. I don’t think longer battery life is a priority for them. Until we get some amazing new battery technology I think we’ll be charging our phones at least every other day for the foreseeable future.

Until we get some amazing new battery technology I think we’ll be charging our phones at least every other day for the foreseeable future.
well being forced to give an device ID, must rent or buy the tools from apple, and being forced to buy that battery from apple.
may not comply with the rules.
Now may apple may need to make the tools rent for free + free shipping for them to force you to use there tools.

I have a question regarding new battery technology. I think there’s a new one called Solid State Batteries, right? Maybe that’s not exactly the name, but it exist. When can we expect Apple to adopt this new battery technology?

It's about damn time! my secondary phone (Vivo Iqoo z7) charges from 0%-100% in a mere 27 minutes with its 120watt charger. It's hard to go back from this to the slow ass charging on my iPhone.
That does not go with the proposed EU regulation. In the regulation the replacement must be possible without any additional special tools (offered by the manufacturer for additional price).

By zig-zagging the lambs, it could stop the battery from going baaaaad. Eventually though, I think we all know Apple would like an entirely mutton-free device.

If this technology is in all the phones then the 15 Plus will have the best battery life.

Am I missing something? Unless you are camping or pulling all nighters, what is the issue with charging nightly? Especially with mag safe and the updates coming to iOS 17? I’m genuinely curious what others are doing differently than me that makes this problematic.

Most of the younger generation don't remember how poor the replaceable battery's were!
This is a backward step for the consumer with the EU directive, in fact nothing the EU does is for the benefit of the consumer 😏
I had my battery replaced once by a third party for £50, never again, it's not that expensive at £89 to have the battery replaced by Apple every 3/4 years and sleep soundly knowing it has been disposed of correctly and there will be a lot more e-waste with replaceable battery's 😏

Ohm's Law in practice. Cables seem simple and innocuous, but weak conductors, even in a low voltage scenario, can easily result in cables getting red hot, smoking, and causing fires.
The majority of cheap USB-C cables sold online cannot handle the amperage. Plus, the cables need to stay thick despite years of being flexed and abused. This is why there are USB-C cables suitable for charging high wattage devices, and many more that are not. It is wise to stick with certified cables instead of buying the garbage sold in discount retail stores or by anonymous online sellers.

Love it, now also give me real control of maximum and minimum percentages. Let me set the max charge to whatever I want (80%) and let me decide if I want to shut off the phone at 20% or go into low battery mode. No different than our EV's.

I’m sorry, but the EU bureaucrats think phones should be held together with a few Phillips screws and still be water resistant. That’s not how tech works.
Next they’ll try to cap the cost of the device, and Apple would have to pull out of the EU.

How do some android (notably Chinese phones like redmi, oneplus, Vivo, xiaomi) get up to 210W charging? Is this just throwing battery life to the wind? I never bought one when there, but the numbers always seemed crazy
