So like the 5C then?

Unapologetically plastic! :D

Titanium is only for the high end phones. You should really wonder about all the rest…..

A new composite plastic that would resist dents and scratches could take the stigma away from ordinary plastic. We call it:

APPLE ULTRA PLASTIC!

But who cares - you got USB-C at USB 2 speeds on the regular model. Have fun with the cable falling out all the time!

I just want it to sit flat on a desk again. Or hell, even if they add a protrusion bar across the whole top, like the Pixel. Or make wedge shaped, like the MacBook Air. Or make the whole phone thicker. Just do something to get these camera bumps under control.

That ring initiated Touch ID, yes? And it existed before the solid state of the 7.

The touchpad of MacBooks are solid state, and they don’t have capacitive ring.

(Unless of course I’m talking out my bunghole and spouting falsities.)

The ring initiated everything. You couldn't press the home button with just your fingernail. The ring needed to feel a fleshy finger or a capacitive glove to active the home button.

Same for the solid-state trackpad on a Macbook. I just tried moving the cursor on my Macbook Air with just my fingernail and through the sleeve of my shirt.

It didn't work! The trackpad needs a capacitive touch to operate.

So that was my question. How will capacitive volume buttons work if they're covered by a case?

The only way I can see it working is if case-makers put some capacitive material on the inside of the case that touches the buttons.

That may be my answer.

:)

I don't know about that. Is it just me, I find the Macbook Pro 14" very hard to grab due to his shape.

Oh my. We're going around in circles again. We started with curved edges in the original iPhone. Then moved onto square-edged design with iPhone 4. Then went back to curved edges in iPhone 6, then back to square edges and a slab design in iPhone 12. And everytime the edges change curvature, people go crazy and say its a new design, and how much better it is compared to ALL previous iPhones. When in reality, we're just going round in circles multiple times.

If true, I'd suspect it'll be in the new "Ultra" model at the top. As mentioned in the last lines of this article.
Yeah, that’s what I was thinking. The titanium frame and periscope camera lens will probably be exclusive to the 15 Ultra (6.7”) along with a price increase so it might be $150-200 more than the 6.1” 15 Pro. Those features could find their way to the 6.1” 16 Pro or Ultra if Apple decides to adopt the Ultra moniker for the smaller model.

think it's one of the biggest iphone upgrades for a while in most areas. no doubt be more expensive though as expected.

Honestly I really dont care any more, iPhones have become a buggy mess. I would prefer a two year gap and a decent OS rather than the mess we got this year and changes on a rectangle that are hardly obvious (did love the 5C though I wish they would use self healing high end plastic over a metal back rather than glass. I'm still having issues with both iPad and iPhone not sending pictures unless you have a text from the person already, this is only in the photo apps though works fine from message app. 16 has had and has got so many bugs. Sigh.

Apple have kinda lost their edibility for myself these days, its the same difference with the features we could have had this year for, but wait for next year just to put the price up a extra £200 with no true inovation as the market has plateaued I'm not changing from my 14 Pro for a very long time, not even for the worlds worst flimsy connector, I can see lots of issues when it gets pulled out mid tranfer, I had to tighten mine for my iMac with Pliers! Also not that many people actually transfer stuff from phones any more and god help taptic engine touch sensitive buttons if that rumour happens. Most of my friends wont upgrade any more they cant see the difference, the 14 Pro (not max) with a bigger battery has worse battery life than the 13 pro, cellular calls eat battery life too, because Apple cant make decent antennas I'm guessing, not that I could but the 14 Pro (not max) is worse for battery eating calls then the 13 Pro yet its got a better modem...

I waited so long for them to revisit the design language from the peak iPhone 4 / 5 generations, don't really vibe with this rumour of the curved edges.

I’m terms of industrial design these are the best! Compromise for ”feel” gives you inferior design. Everyone uses a case so it doesn’t matter and the phone can be as pure to true industrial design as can be.

As long as they keep the front flat I’m ok with it. The curved front glass means the screen is always the first to hit and a lot more likely to break. That and they don’t work well with screen protectors

I hope they can try and get the camera bump protrusion under control a bit next? Hopefully the technology will be there to be able to lay my phone flat on a table without it wobbling in the next 10 years.
What if they fill that space with battery and decrease the weight of the phone by changing materials, for those who find it too heavy? (Not my case, I can lift a phone)

All I want is a USB-C shaped hole in the bottom!

🤞

I hope so too because I'm tired of hearing all the whining about it 🤣

I hope it actually transfers data at the speed people are expecting, though. Otherwise, it's going to be whine fest 2.0 on the forums.

Please not this again. We all know that Steve Jobs left us with the iPhone 5, and he got it right the first time. Those slippery phones with the curved edges just won’t do. But MacBook Pro like edges I could live with… only because they intentionally regressed to the original form factor.

Well, the first time for Steve was the original iPhone, which had curved edges 😉 I've never had an issue holding onto the curved iPhones.

Maybe the "Max" size makes a difference, but my 13PM (even with the case removed) doesn't wobble when I use it flat on the table unless I press the top left of the screen fairly hard, which I would never need to do anyway. I somehow doubt we're going to get completely flush camera bumps any time soon (or ever again?), which is the only way you're not going to have the possibility of a wobble.
