Wonder why they wouldn’t do Liquidmetal? They invested a lot of money into it and have only gotten a SIM removal tool out of it.

That would be awesome

I really hope that Apple does in fact go back to a curved edge design

I much prefer the ergonomic design of the iPhone XS and 11 over the iPhone 12, 13 and 14
If you're that confident then no need for a case or AC+ since it's Titanium right?

better hope it's not the 'Titanium freckles' used in the old TiBook ; )

I love MacRumor's steady reports on the next generation of device. Yes, every iPhone is the best and most powerful one Apple's ever made but across USB-C, periscope camera, curved edges and titanium chassis, it's definitely worth shirking the 14 Pro lineup for the 15 Pro Max/ 15 Ultra.
Nothing to be shrinked ibn the Pro lineup. what you've stated simply just rebrands the existing 2 pro units.

I hope they can try and get the camera bump protrusion under control a bit next? Hopefully the technology will be there to be able to lay my phone flat on a table without it wobbling in the next 10 years.
Periscope camera tech is supposed to do this.

Have a look at Sony's Xperia 1 ... mark III and IV ... look at how shallow their camera bump is and how slim their phone is.

Some people seem to like the "appearance" of the flat side products, but I don't really know why that matters. 99% of them get buried in an ugly case to begin with, and the shape is awkward and uncomfortable to hold. I've actually taken to getting chunkier/thicker cases (which I used to hate) because they actually make it easier to hold this style.

I like the 5C concept with a flat front and rounded back. And if we're really lucky, a fully titanium back without glass. Should make the phone a lot lighter and a lot more durable at the same time.

Agreed. The squared edges look cool but make one's pocket outline look absurd. Sharp edges also don't handle drops & dings as well. It's been around a while, time for a new look.

Would require more moving parts to potentially break, but I wonder about a lens system that extends out only when the camera is in use.

If I had to guess, they couldn’t get larger parts like an iPhone chassis to work in the injection molding-like process that Liquidmetal uses. I’m also not sure that there are any rigidity or strength benefits to Liquidmetal, compared to titanium or stainless. I believe the selling point was creating a metal alloy that would stay liquid long enough to go through the injection molding process, as it would be more efficient than CNC routering every chassis.

Can’t they get rid of the Pro camera that looks like a tumour and make the phone a little less difficult to look at, preferably with less boring colours too. I would be happy to pay the extra £200 for the Pro - it’s nothing really for all the extra features - but such an ugly camera bump is ugly. The 13 and 14 series are beautiful devices on the other hand with some really nice colours. Therefore it will probably be a 15 and not a 15 Pro for me, especially as the standard 15 will be getting the best feature that is currently only on the Pro

Here is an objective fact:

The iPhone X has the best design, by-far, of any iPhone ever produced.

Rounded front to rounded back in perfect symmetry is called ergonomic design, and it feels ASTRONOMICALLY better than square edges. It also LOOKS so much better and more elegant.

The iPhone X ads were by far the best they’ve done, it looked absolutely astounding with the glossy back glass to rounded glossy stainless and GLOSSY IS EASY TO HOLD NOT GOD DAMN MATTE.

No one cares what you say about the camera. Why? There’s a 99% chance you use a case and the camera sits flush with the case.. please come back to reality.

Get back to us with complaints when you don’t use a case.

If they make the titanium a matte finish the iPhone Pros will look like cheap non-premium garbage and the non-pros will look like the premium phones again.

GLOSSY LOOKS PREMIUM NOT MATTE.

Moreover, you get all of these pathetic morons complaining about fingerprint smudges and scratches on the glossy stainless or glossy glass BUT THESE MORONS PUT THEIR GOD DAMN PHONE IN A CASE AND NEVER REMOVE IT.

The ONLY people who have a right to speak about glossy stainless and glass are those who absolutely do not place their phone in a case.

WHY IS GLOSSY A MUST? GRIP GRIP GRIP GRIP GRIP.

See you have to be able to actually hold the phone if you don’t use a case, and that means the priority is GRIP NOT REDUCTION IN SMUDGES OR SCRATCHES.

It’s pretty simple people. Doesn’t take a lot of brain power.

This is awesome. I have been waiting for a Titanium iPhone for a very long time. That stainless steel has got to go. I also love my Apple Watch Ultra in Titanium. Can't wait to see how new colors would look on Titanium.
Hahaha. Funny. Unless you don’t use a case you have absolutely zero room to speak about it.

The edges of the device HAVE to be glossy. WHY? Because GRIP GRIP GRIP GRIP. You have to be able to hold the phone without it slipping out if your hand like a wet bar of soap.

MATTE = WET BAR OF SOAP.

GLOSSY = VERY GRIPPY.

Compared to stainless steel, titanium has a relatively high hardness that makes it more resistant to scratches, and its stiffness makes it durable enough to withstand bending.

Generally speaking, stainless steel alloys have a higher hardness than titanium alloys.* As a rough approximation, titanium has about 2x the density, strength, stiffness, and hardness of aluminum alloys, while stainless steel is closer to 3x compared to aluminum. A titanium phone will be lighter than the current iPhone Pros, but less strong/stiff/scratch-resistant. As always, there’s no free lunch…

*The strength & hardness of stainless steel, aluminum and titanium alloys are highly dependent on heat treatment and/or cold working as well as applied surface treatments.

I hate the current boxy design. The bottom edge literally cut my pinky off when I use the phone more than 5 minutes in one hand. And the whole phone feels bulkier, wider because the boxy shape doesn’t follow the natural curve of the palm. The best design was the 11 pro’s with the smooth curved sides.

Precisely accurate. Sharp edges are awful. The curved symmetric design of the iPhone X with the glossy stainless and glossy glass was the epitome of design smartphone design. There will never be better.

Apple and all highly biased Apple fans who think square edges are a good idea need to go sit down and think about these objects and why smart designers made them like they are:

A steering wheel: rounded

A door knob: rounded

A broom handle: rounded

A baseball bat: rounded

A car door handle: rounded

A railing: rounded

A video game controller: rounded

Apple TV Remote: Moronic

iPhone 12/13/14: Moronic
