I had a 5G+ connection this past weekend for the first time. I ran a speed test the moment I noticed.

Good thing I'm in Northern CA, US - Bay Area...the center of terrible cell coverage. iPhone 14 Pro. I'll assume the 15 won't do much better.

Compared to some places I've been, that's amazing coverage. I was in Rogersville TN a few weeks ago, and I'd occasionally get some voice service, no data at all. Fortunately my car GPS works without cell service. US 25 between Newport TN and Marshall NC is a dead zone other than in Hot Springs NC.

I went to college near Marshall in Mars Hill, NC and there was barely any cell service back in the early 2000s. We couldn't get a decent signal until we got near Asheville.

Looks like it hasn't really improved in 20 years... the pains of rural America.

🤣

Eh, it's improved. Last time I was in Mars Hill my phone worked fine, and that's been at least a few years ago. Marshall is a bit of a fringe zone, service is spotty there (it's fine on the hilltops nearby) but once you get any closer to Asheville coverage is good.
