So just take them off your phone when you want to use your phone, or go do something else.

Similarly, I cant use my Watch while its charging and I cant take my phone with me if its plugged into the wall or on its MagSafe charger.
But you can use your phone when it’s plugged in or on a MagSafe charger. Reverse charging then is only good for when you don’t want to use either your phone or the device you’re charging, which is when exactly? So many people can’t put their device down for 5 minutes.

Sometimes my AirPods are dead when I’m somewhere without a cable and I’d enjoy being able to revive them. Besides that I have no use for it.

I generally have only 2 tabs open. [yes, I'm weird]. I've never had more than 3 tabs open.

I'm just more curious as to what marketing tactic Apple is going to use to justify 8GB of RAM.
Me too. I typically use three or four tabs, maybe five as a maximum. Though I do get that it could be an issue for people who use lots of tabs.

My problem with the RAM however is apps reloading in the background only by opening the camera app.. quite annoying.
Also, I don’t know if it’s just me, but whenever I play music/sound in the background and try using another app at the same time (mainly a drawing app), the app becomes a bit laggy and sometimes even crashes.. I never saw anyone complaining about this, but it happens to me and I think it’s most likely a RAM issue :)

With that being said, I’m not really planning on upgrading this year as I just got my iPhone 14 PM a few months ago. But I’m looking forward to seeing the increased 8GB RAM if true. While it may not seem very necessary for some people, it’d definitely be a very welcome addition. The current 6GB RAM is seemingly not enough to handle all kinds of background tasks.

Guess we’re about to find out in just a few hours 🤞🏻✨

Wait so you think people are just using their phone 100% of the time and couldn't fathom taking a 10 minute break to charge something that could also be of use?

Currently using 48.9 of 256 GB on my 11 Pro.

If I choose to upgrade this year, I'm actually considering getting the 128 GB...if available.
I’m using only 44.6 GB, so yeah 256 GB is more than enough for me as well 😅

Though I wouldn’t really go with 128GB. I guess it could be enough for plenty of people (maybe even including me), but I prefer to have as much spare storage as possible :)

128GB is low even now, ProRaw photo is around 70-90 MB, after 6 months I have only 30gb of storage left (128gb 14 Pro), basic storage should be 256 GB at least

That's true... ProRaw photos are pretty big.

But what's your endgame? Will you be carrying terabytes of photos in your pocket for the rest of your life?

How much storage will you have on your phone in 5 years? 10 years? 15 years?

Look... I get it. It's frustrating when you get that dreaded popup "Your iPhone is full"

But at the same time... I don't think your iPhone is meant to be permanent storage for every photo you've ever taken.

Personally... I have all my iPhone photos/videos saved on OneDrive. And when I buy a new iPhone... I start fresh.

So if I need to find a photo from 2015... I can get to it. But I won't be carrying 20 years of photos on my person.

:p

One reason why I love traveling for work with my iPad Pro, is I often use its USB-C output to charge my AirPod case. I already carry a USB-C to Lightning cable, so this type of reverse charging does make sense to me. And when they switch to USB-C for AirPods cases, I’ll only need to travel with a single cable.

With all these storage options, isn't it about time for dual boot technology?
The iPhone 15 with USB-C should be able to run macOS Sonoma. o_O
If they aren't unshackling the iPad, they are definitely not unshackling the iPhone.

(Not that I agree with this mindset at all. In a perfect world, every Apple device could run a version of macOS optimized for it.)

iPad = Base macOS, but with touch control. Keyboard recommended.
iPhone = Simplified macOS with some features removed or altered, macOS apps still usable.
TV = Base macOS, but with remote control.
Watch = No

Heck even having multiusers, even if the second was just Guest with only basic apps and no access to the main user's data

Yeah, I'll probably go for 256, even if I don't really plan to shoot 48 MP Raw files... but I have been seriously considering a "downgrade" on the storage.

So if I need to find a photo from 2015... I can get to it. But I won't be carrying 20 years of photos on my person.

This is why I use iCloud Photos and then use Opitmise iPhone Storage.

Not really filling up the iPhone, but I can still find and download any old photo, back to 2002 (and even some older, digitised photos, back to 1993). Best of both worlds.

I do not, however, use the optimised setting on my Mac, so there I have full versions of the entire photo library. (And as I take pictures on my phone those are "automagically" synced to the Mac.) Convenient.

I’m predicting $100 price hike for the regular models and $200 for the pro models.

They’ll explain how the titanium was brushed by 16 year old virgins and the periscope lenses were polished by Tibetan monks.
Hey wait shouldn't the periscope be polished by the virgins? Don't know about the monks...

I think there are a lot more people making the switch. Not to derail this thread about foldables or android VS.....but the hardware that samsung and others are offering are truly very nice, if you can enjoy the operating system than i'd say give it a try! I am very much into the apple ecosystem tho, and that is what has kept me hesitant from making the switch fully. Apple isn't the innovative company it used to be....but like i said since i'm that far into the eco system, i enjoy using the S23 Ultra and my apple watch Ultra together but separate loll........Apple truly needs to start innovating again and blow our socks off.....I miss that old Apple.
Well, I’m speaking here from another perspective, as someone who made the opposite switch 😅

Just switched to the Apple ecosystem this year and I’ve always been an Android/Windows user. I switched for many reasons, but mainly because I kind of got bored of Android/Windows and wanted to try something different. I’m really enjoying the experience so far. Now I actually get why lots of lifelong Apple users are very loyal to Apple products. The very seamless integration of the Apple ecosystem between all the devices does make it very difficult to switch !
Currently, I only own an iPhone and a MacBook, but I do plan on getting more Apple devices in the future in order to get the real full-ecosystem experience ! 😁

With that being said, I do agree the Apple isn’t quite as innovative as it used to be back during the Steve Jobs era. However, I feel like technology in general is currently at its peak, so it’s not only Apple’s problem. Smart phones have been quite the same for a few years with only a few incremental changes every year, this applies to both Androids and iPhones. The S23 Ultra as an example wasn’t actually that big of an upgrade compared to the S22 Ultra. It’s only got a few improvements over the S22 Ultra, such as a better camera, processor, battery.. but nothing really different, even the design is the same thing.
You probably find it quite more exciting because it’s something “new” to you. Just like how I found the iPhone and the Apple ecosystem exciting, as it’s also a whole new experience for me !
On the other hand, if you were already coming from an S22 Ultra, you’ll most likely find the S23 Ultra to be quite a “meh” upgrade. That doesn’t mean it’s a bad phone, but just like iPhones have been for a few years, it’s not really that big of an upgrade.

As for the foldables, I think the reason why Apple hasn’t joined that market yet is because it’s quite a niche market at the moment as it hasn’t been selling very well, and the technology is still not very mature (the crease on the middle of the screen is an example). I think we might see a foldable iPhone/iPad from Apple perhaps once the technology improves, or if we assume that Apple will actually get it “right”. There have been rumors about that already so.. who really knows 😄

As long as Samsung et al continue to also cheap out like Apple with crappy base 128gb storage, we'll continue to have 128gb base models. The only thing on the horizon that could finally kill it would be the NAND manufacturers to stop making such tiny storage in 2023. Fast 1TB NVME is already in the $30-$40 range and 2TB is under $100 all day long. It's pathetic how much Apple is milking storage.

One use case is while traveling. You only need one cable to charge your phone and AirPods/Watch.

It's not a breakthrough that apple is offering the charging of other devices via USB C. Samsung phones have been doing reverse charging for years now....
