I know how wide the FoV is. Yx says nothing, real life example Canon EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM is 3,23x zoom,
Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM is 2,85x. Now the question: which is better? Which has "more" magnification?

That way you can't compare different manufacturers without knowing equivalent focal range
That’s fine for photographers and people into the tech but most users don’t know what ###mm means and aren’t trying to compare their camera to others. They just a rough idea of how “close” they can get to a subject.

I am kinda a phone camera expert i have done 10000 side by side comparisons

the problem of having periscope lens without having a 3x zoom is a problem u would need 4 lens to achieve that. pixel phones can get away with it coz they have high res zoom AI. so to give u an example p4xl only has a 1.5(50%) tele lens but can take better zoom pics then ip14promax which has 3x(300%) zoom. p4xl and ip14pro zoom is almost the same with p4 very slightly ahead diff is 1%

Starting with 23 ultra even samsung is using AI to boost the zoom on the 10x zoom this i know because i test every single camera. but samsung never disclosed it. The 23 ultra does have better zoom then p7pro but only slightly the difference is maybe only 5%

video totally diff the zoom AI doesnt work on video ultra 23 zoom is massively better then p7pro

but when u take moon pic on samsung standalone it will be better on ultra 23 then p7pro but when u add other objects with the moon then p7pro is better.
But still have no clue how photography or lenses work. Pixel 4xl: two prime lenses - 27mm and 50mm equivalent. 50mm is not telephoto, but ordinary standard lens. And that is 1,85 difference.
14PM 13mm, 24mm and 77mm. That's 5,9 times difference.
iP14PM has 1,54 times magnification over p4xl on narrow angle.

I can tell you the whole ballpark of phones with real zoom lenses. Zenfone zoom from 2015 28-84mm and Xperia 1 Mk4 85-125mm

So called "periscope" or folded optics - Welcome to 2002 and Minolta Dimage X. Tech is not new.

Should ashamed calling yourself an "expert".

Other nonsense you wrote is a complete facepalm.

And it's "thAn" not "thEn"

Wanna know from whom i hear that Yx nonsense most? Couch experdz "tech savy power users", be it iOS or Droid camp.
Edit: you can't compare Yx from different manufacturers then. 10-50 (5x) is not the same as 30-90 (3x)

I hate these differences between Pro models.. Im paying for Pro features
People say Apple doesn't have components to put periscope lens in basic Pro models. Ye ye ******** as f. They already have them all but want to make money for sheep. MacRumors guy also said on youtube basic 15 Pro will get 6x so they don't know what they say... only j off to leaks..

In my mind I always wanted a better telephoto lens, although I only use it once or twice a year 🤣 (Like most users. I suspect)
Would probably upgrade my 13 pro, for the better periscope lens, but I'm not going for the Max Pro, the same reason I got a AW s8 ss, instead of the Ultra, it's just too big 😏
I'm a photographer and my iphone 12 is pathethic. I noticed every time I have to be close to subject I take photo of. I tested my digital 12 zoom and the distance in 5x is really good but still miss 10x in Samsung. Samsung has pretty good 30x zoom but its not the thing people need, maybe perverts. Telephoto 230mm DSLR lens are equivalent of 10x zoom so its enough.
