is it normal that the photos take 3 seconds to sharpen?

If it shot a photo and immediately go to the gallery the photo takes about seconds to be sharp and clear.
The time before its blurry and unsharp.

Is this a normal behauvior?

After the 3 seconds the photo stays sharp and clear.

I'm curious - what is the use case to need to see a "sharp" photo less that 3 seconds after it is taken?

Also if you see the photo later it remains 2-3 seconds unsharp until it is processed. 🙈🙈

Used to take a second on my 12 Pro Max. After upgrading to 15 Pro Max, definitely noticed that it takes longer.
3 seconds is probably right. Becomes annoying when trying to view a photo immediately after clicking it.

Ah yes, I have experienced this on both my 13 PM and 15 PM shortly after taking a pic.
Also see it shortly after taking a pic and trying to send it via WhatsApp.

This is totally normal and it is when the phone does all of the Deep Fusion and HDR stuff.

Probably takes longer on the 15 because it is doing more processing than on the older phones.

I think that is not right.

The 3 seconds unsharpness are only the first time opening the picture.
After that the photo stays clear and sharp.
Also if I close the gallery and open it the photo is directly sharp and clear.
I think it has to do with something like iOS 17 @Deifie said.

Because you’ve recently accessed the photo, the large size is still cached and easily accessible. This is the file system cache we’re talking about, so it would still be the case even if you quit the Photos/Camera app. This isn’t new behavior, I’ve seen it for years now. Try accessing the photo then resetting your phone (instead of just closing out the camera app) and accessing the same photo again. If it takes a moment to unblur, that’s because the cache was cleared when you reset.

I can’t duplicate what the OP is talking about. I tried all the camera settings, and everytime I review a new photo, it’s instantly clear. I only randomly notice what the OP is experiencing on long exposed shots, like night shots.

For what it’s worth, this happens on my iPhone XS and began with iOS 17. It’s frustrating, and I had put it down to my older SOC struggling with improved image processing in iOS 17.

I shoot raw, ProRAW. it takes that long with mine. It’s normal, don’t worry about it. That’s Deep Fusion being applied.

I noticed this too, but this has been happening since the implementation of Deep Fusion. During these seconds, the device is processing, via AI, to deliver you the best possible result.

You are still wrong, this happens even with icloud disabled on my phone. It’s deep fusion.
