I had a 12 pro max with the x55 and now the 15 pro max with the x70 and there is noticeably much better reception and also download speed . I appreciate you had the x60 so can’t comment on that but between the x55 and x70 there is a significant difference
Yes the X70 is much worse for me with multiple carriers than the X55

As someone who upgrades fairly often (every other generation) this year I get to have : Always-On, Dynamic Island, 48MP, Satellite thing, Action Button, USB-C, and this Natural Titanium look that I personally find gorgeous. Not too bad for "incremental changes" ;-)

As someone who is clearly pleased with the phone, can you comment on any negatives you've found? I've heard the heat issue mentioned more than once.

I’m on the same boat as the guy who’s very please with the 15PM, here is my bug list:
- unresponsive keyboard. Especially on the lower right
- laggy and buggy camera app, especially with the 5x. Sometimes it froze completely. Force restart the phone solved the problem. Now it’s working fine.
- throttle hard during gaming. Runs quite hot , surface temperature may go to 40C.
- smart AI on the keyboard is not very smart.

But there are something I really like:
+ zero heat issues whatsoever with normal use (browsing, recording notes, posting social media posts, recording 4K video)
+ 4K Pro Res 60fps HDR / log to external drive

Even with the logic boards identical, I don't see any reason why Apple could not engineer 5x optical zoom in the 15 Pro.

anyone notice a difference with the X70? ill be getting a 15 soon but I have a 13 pro max now and am just hoping for better cellular connection. reception in my town sucks but I see some other android people getting better signal than i
Service is around the same, but phone seems to be more thermally sound and less power use. The X70 is made on TSMC's N4 node, not Samsung's **** GAAFET node. So it is more power efficient.

Also had 13 Pro Max. 15 Pro Max now.

Go outside. Leave your phone in your house or in a bag. Live life. These devices seem to be ruling too many of you still. Excitement should have evaporated by now. You don't need to buy the newest device anymore. One day you'll look back and you won't even remember what number iPhone you had when you missed out on something great.

Where would we be without your wisdom?

OMG such amazing specs....now with an X71? NO WAY! Gonna totally 💯 beat Android now 🤩

And with eight cameras doing super majumbles? At 40 Megapigeons? How is Symbian even gonna come back from the dead with that kinda rabbit power?

And 5G without coronavirus is just peak Apple.

It's not politics or opinion. Let's call it what it is: economics. They're not being preachy for any other reason than they make money when people repair their devices and/or can buy parts for them, so they're not pushing an ideological agenda (even if they hire a lobbyist or two to push a political agenda to make money), they're pushing an economic agenda just like any other company in a our economy.

Not saying it is good or bad, but the "tech facts" come at a cost, and that cost is paid for by tear downs that get views/clicks and revenue from sales. I kind of like the counter point to the obnoxious eco-washed BS of the AAPL reality distortion field (I have tons of AAPL stuff, I like their stuff but the sef-indulgent marketing is vomit-inducing to me, not even considering the fast-and-loose they play with facts, which is all also capitalism, so I just don't watch the keynotes and just buy their stuff and laugh at the people who actually believe that fluff).

You're asking for a for profit company to buy a $1500 phone to destroy, pay staff, set up facilities/tooling, and produce and publish videos for free because you want "tech facts" but you aren't willing to put up with their spin on it so they can make the money to do it. That's just called entitlement, man.

I wish a new company would come along to do this stuff (teardowns) and leave out all of their opinion and politics. I don’t like when Apple injects their politics or when anyone else does. Just give me the tech facts!

All sounds good for an upgrade ..., after some time passes to shake out issues like chattering cameras and any unforeseen iOS 17 'features'.

I really have to ask, how is it "politics" when people just want to be able to repair their own stuff? How is anyone against this? I never understood people who side with Apple's restrictions. The only one who benefits from those is Apple. We should all be able to buy replacement parts at a reasonable price and fix our own phones.

The issue is that the other versions of the phone didn't fail like this. So while it may not be a "big issue", it is still an "issue".

No, it's just not an issue. It's a block of metal and glass. That previous versions of the iPhone didn't break when enormous and unusual force was applied to them means they were extraordinary, not that the current version is defective in some way.

I went from 12 Pro to 15 Pro and it is most definitely faster, even twice as fast in a couple spots I tried. Obviously that will vary a lot by location but it's definitely better. Presumably better on battery too, but I don't really have numbers on that. As far as reach and reception where you might not have had it before though I can't really say.

Because iFixit is actively campaigning for right to repair legislation, and they've allowed their political advocacy to seep into everything they do. They may very well be right—I agree with a lot of their positions—but I'd like to see a teardown, not a public service announcement.

What is going on at iFixit? They used to release detailed, text-based iPhone teardown with high-res images on release day every year. Now, they take 4 days to release a perfunctory video with brief flashes of the actual device and far too much "clever" commentary from that bald guy.
Money. Just like Apple, they’re out to make as much money as possible and producing those on day one would drive a huge number of folks on that day. Chunking it up and spreading it out gets more eyes to their site over a longer period which is financially better for them and the SEO.

There are a few sites that have resisted the urge, but not many.
