Yeah. Lets go back to a less secure, less reliable option. You belong on the engineering team, for sure.Useless feature, how about touch id under display like every other premium phones

Agreed! A lot of people seem to think that just bc they don’t find it useful no one else will. I like this idea though. You can leave it as a mute/silent button or you can customize to something that’s more useful to you. Seems like a win for everyone, imo.I said this was the case when we first saw this leaked button, since the design looked very similar. Yet many forum members on here challenged and corrected it. I understand many have logic for the current design but so many on this forum just will just berate or belittle things just because they don’t seem useful to them personally. I’m not sure what entitles them to have preferential treatment over other customers. Will be interesting to see benefits of this new button with so much skepticism toward it.
Then there is yet another shell case variation to stock in stores and find in stock easily for each of the 4 A15 models.A solution to a problem no one has. Just leave the mute button FFS!
To be fair, they leaked accurate details about the Island, but not the Dynamic Island.…according to a MacRumors forum member who leaked accurate details about the Dynamic Island on iPhone 14 Pro models last year.

No doubt this will spawn major outrage from many, the likes of which that hasn't been seen since Apple removed the floppy disk from computers.
You could map it to mute. You lose nothing. All of use who always-ever have it on mute get to make it do something useful. Win-win.A solution to a problem no one has. Just leave the mute button FFS!
What can possibly go wrong with this new iOS feature/update?😂😂Oh joy, more button/touch gestures.
Press once to mute/unmute
Press twice for Siri...
Press twelve times to...
If it’s in a typical hard shell case it would be harder to do. The buttons are all recessed then. Example OtterBox - Symmetry Series+I have accidentally triggered the mute switch several times recently taking it in/out of my pockets. I am all for this.
Yes I have had my ultra watch for month and seldom use the action button on it as well (it was for other watch features I got it)A solution to a problem no one has. Just leave the mute button FFS!

Exactly same for me as we have discussed elsewhere @TheYayAreaLiving 🎗 wish they would not do this but who listens to me at Apple LOLI don't really find the Action Button on Apple Watch useful. Sometimes I feel like it's not even there.
I'm going to miss the Mute button on iPhones. Apple, leave the useful mute button alone, please. 😌
Frankly, comments like these are as predictable and obnoxious as any “outrage” in this thread, if not more so.
We get it. Apple can do and has done no wrong and no one should ever express any skepticism about a rumored feature.
I have my phone on mute at all times, the only time I use it when I take the phone out of the case and put back in, that moves the button … but that’s just me, I don’t need the mute button..I don't really find the Action Button on Apple Watch useful. Sometimes I feel like it's not even there.

Well the problem there are some of us who only randomly use mute on, when in meetings it might disturb. Otherwise I want mute off so I can hear calls, notifications in my belt holster case (miss vibrations there). And I like case as I mentioned in other threads and the mute switch already hard to set (so never turn on unplanned) given I always protect my phone with a clear apple case, the flat touch button whatever it does is going to be harder for me to use than the slightly elevated switch so not a win for everyone LOLYou could map it to mute. For me, it'll activate the camera, hell yeah.
