And who exactly was Apple giving the middle finger to before, when they have been limiting Lightning to USB 2.0 speeds on all iPhones up to the 14 Pro?No. Apple is giving the middle finger to the stupid EU regulators! That’s what it’s all about and I’m with Apple on this one.
To people who were using a cable to transfer files from their iPhone. And who exactly was Apple giving the middle finger to before, when they have been limiting Lightning to USB 2.0 speeds on all iPhones up to the 14 Pro?
Exactly. And who exactly was Apple giving the middle finger to before, when they have been limiting Lightning to USB 2.0 speeds on all iPhones up to the 14 Pro?
They’ll announce this revolutionary new feature where you just tap the back of the phone to confirm pop-ups.Meh.. I’ll,wait for iPhone 16 pro… I think it’ll be major upgrade
The problem is the masses won’t care…This is obscene. Apple may want to stick it to the EU but it is assaulting its own customers. The 15 and 15 Plus should have at least USB 3. If they want to differentiate between them and the Pros, then give the top models Thunderbolt speeds. But that wouldn't be like Apple, the world's most arrogant and cynical company. Not only am I going to wait on a purchase, I'm going to seriously consider leaving the ecosystem.
It’s a darn port. Why the hell do you want to see it? Like you don’t know what a usb-c port looks like. It ain’t a big feature to them as you make it seem for yourself.Yes, I think it’s interesting that we need to freeze frame a 2 hour video to find a photo of it. Since it’s such a big feature of the device it is just shocking to me that apple would not prominently display it practically anywhere in their marketing.
Of course not, because data transfers over Lightning cable are excruciatingly slow.I legitimately can not remember the last time I used my iPhone to transfer data to or from a computer using a Lightning cord. Who cares.
The big deal is that I can charge my MacBook, iPad, and now iPhone without having to carry around multiple cords.
This is obscene. Apple may want to stick it to the EU but it is assaulting its own customers.
You know why they did this? This is obscene. Apple may want to stick it to the EU but it is assaulting its own customers.
That’s why there’s options. Any company can make and sell anything as they please. If you don’t like what they are selling, don’t buy and keep shopping. I don’t know what people get so butt hurt. Nobody is forcing you to buy their products. There’s other companies selling other products you or others may like. Check those out.Forget the regular 15 not getting USB 3, the bigger story is that the Pro *only* gets 10gbps - on the same day Intel announces Thunderbolt 5 with 80gbps!
Yeah nah, only putting USB 2 into those chips IS throttling. We are talking about very old technologies here.Instead of rushing to assign blame, maybe dig a little deeper. They're not "throttling it down" or "intentionally capping" - the USB circuitry is on the A16 chip, the same chip they were using last year in the iPhone 14 Pro. It is designed to run at USB2 speeds (because that's all that Lightning needed).
The iPhone 15 Pro uses the A17. The A17 has more capable USB circuitry on it, that can do the higher speeds. Next year, in all likelihood, the iPhone 16 will get the A17 (and faster speeds) and the iPhone 16 Pro will have moved onto an A18 chip.
Yeah, buy and iPhone Pro, and get 10 Gbps. It's even more unnecessary to connect any cable for data transfer to any phone unless you're frequently moving over large chunks of data -> you're a pro -> buy iPhone Pro.
Yeah, next year iPhone 16 will get 5 Gbps, and iPhone Pro will get 20 Gbps.I expect this to improve next year with the iPhone 16, with the integrated USB-C controller on the SoC, just like the A17 Pro.
Heck, I’ve already seen a post where the nutcase at the keyboard proclaimed his exit from the entire Apple ecosystem over this one “issue”. 🤣Now people who weren’t going to buy an iPhone 15 will tell us how they are not buying an iPhone 15 because of this.
I hope they cripple charging speed to 1w on non-MiFi USB-C cables. Teach the government to get involved in ****.I think "malicious compliance" is a good description for this. But hey...the EU mandated it...people cheered for it. You wanted it...You got it...and ONLY that 😂
