Haha I think so as I’m quite happy with the 16 Plus. How about yourself?

also extremely happy with 16 Plus.

Had a 16 Pro during the return policy at launch and it went back - underwhelmed with screen size and the battery life was barely better than my 100% health 13 mini which I found to be unacceptable for a $1000 flagship device in 2024 (despite being a huge proponent of the mini device, 6.1" size is boring to me and 6.3" added nothing for my use case, I wanted 6.7 again quickly coming from 14 pro max but on a diet and I got just that). and I much prefer the weight distribution and light feel of 16 plus despite being same weight on paper as 16 pro. I think you get a lot more phone for the same weight.

the pro's are boring aesthetically and iOS 18 is such a mess at times ProMotion is almost a moot point this go round lol

I prioritize lighter and better battery over 'specs flex.'

Not saying ProMotion shouldn't be standard at these prices, it should, but I think not having it adds battery life and I don't call the shots. and I won panel lottery, I'd much rather a clean panel on 60hz than 120hz that looks like color tint diarrhea just to see more buttery opening and close animations. But I don't game on my iPhone or any of that. ymmv.

Agreed on everything.

My top two priorities are battery and comfort and the 16 Plus is the only iPhone this year that nails both.

The 16 Plus would be perfect … but not with that display. 60 Hz aren’t a big deal, but totally unacceptable on a phone so expensive. Too close to the iPhone 16 Pro Max

I have a 16 Plus and my 15 PM from last year I use for internet only and the weight difference is very noticeable to the point I doubt I'd ever want to carry the PM out with me again. Go naked if you can (no case) since cases add a lot of extra ounces too.

I don't have arthritis, but I have grip issues from two strokes.

i know the pro phones are SOOO boring!

i know the pro phones are SOOO boring!

They are the most clinical iPhone Pro models to date IMO:

11 Pro introduced tri-camera (and green)
12 pro had boxy sides and pacific blue
13 pro had ProMotion and Sierra blue
14 pro had Dynamic Island (and purple)
15 pro had titanium and USB-C (and nat titanium / the dark blue)
16 pro has... a camera button which isn't even exclusive to Pros, incremental useless screen size bump.
..and gold which was a non starter for me.

Went from 14 pro (regular) to 16 plus, it is great… 16 plus is even few g lighter than my regular 14 pro was… weight of pro phones is terrible, been afraid if lack of pro motion wont bug me to much.. nah, pro motion is over rated (and never used AOD so dont miss that)… and those great colors of non pro phones this year, apple nailed it!

ProMotion it is NOT overrated. It is the MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE for a €1000 smartphone. I’m a big Apple fan, but people here trying to justify their greed is getting ridiculous. iPhone 16 Plus could have been an almost perfect phone for me, but 128 GB and a 60 Hz display on an expensive device are a shame.

I am not advocating apple at all. I do think 90hz display should be bare minimum in 2024/2025, but as I wrote, it is over rated. Been on 120Hz for 2 years, now after 1-2 days on Plus did I miss it? Not at all. Did I see the difference, yes, of course. Thats all. And 128gigs, got it, dont mind it, all my staff is in cloud, actually went from 256 to 128, found out that 256 was just my future proofing, not actual need. Oh, and YMMV:)

There are a lot of things for sure you (and me) don’t really NEED and that are just a “Nice to have”, but don’t forget we are speaking about an expensive, very expensive phone. Those things should be there.
Deep Purple.
Exactly. My favorite iPhone color ever. I was very sad when I traded it in for a natural titanium 16 PM.

I regret trading mine in for the titanium blue. Now I’m trying to order a skin to cover the color.

Can anyone tell me what ProMotion actually does and some real world examples of what you would experience differently between the 16 pro max and the 16 plus? Same question for the 60hz versus the 120hz display?

I'm sure other folk will correct me if I'm wrong, but my understanding is;

Both are refresh rate.

The difference between 60 & 120 is most noticeable when scrolling - faster refresh rate means appearance of smoother scrolling in safari.

Pro motion is a variable aspect so if the screen doesn't need the full refresh rate it can adapt and reduce the refresh rate which saves battery.

ProMotion is the marketing name for Apple variable refresh rate technology. The display doesn’t stay always at 120 Hz, but it change the refresh rate from 1 to 120 Hz depending on the content.

But basically all it is about is being more 60Hz - more fluid. Thats all.

hard to believe, but i think i may keep the 16 plus because it feels lighter and easier to use on handle. photos are great also!
Cheers. This year I tried out every iPhone model (16, 16 Plus, 16 Pro, 16 Pro Max) and ended up keeping the 16 Plus. It’s the Goldilocks phone. Best balance of everything.
