I should note this may be the last of the iPhone models with the "sealed" battery design. Due to new EU regulations, the iPhone 17 coming in 2025 may be a thicker phone to accommodate a user-removable battery pack.
Smaller please!! Not biggerLarger displays
Ross Young said not before 2025 (and it sounds like that would also be the overly optimistic case): https://www.macrumors.com/2023/03/09/under-display-face-id-2025-ross-young/What about the Dynamic Island being replaced with a camera punch hole with Faceid under the screen? I think this is what Ross Young said.
It seems that products under the new Ecodesign regulation may be exempt (which would include smartphones) if their batteries are just long-lasting enough (80% capacity after 1000 cycles).I should note this may be the last of the iPhone models with the "sealed" battery design. I read that the Qualcomm Snapdragon X75 will be their first modem capable of 5G Advanced so it’s possible Apple will be highlighting that. There has been a new modem every year lately.
iPhone 12 lineup: Qualcomm Snapdragon X55
iPhone 13 lineup: Qualcomm Snapdragon X60
iPhone 14 lineup: Qualcomm Snapdragon X65
iPhone 15 lineup: Qualcomm Snapdragon X70
Qualcomm Snapdragon X75 (announced already) seems very likely headed to the iPhone 16 lineup, especially considering Apple extended its modem agreement with Qualcomm.
Anything is possible, but not sure why you'd expect this trend to suddenly end.
Apple tested a prototype 16 Pro with a punch hole and FaceID under the screen. We don’t know for sure if that’s what we’re getting next year. What about the Dynamic Island being replaced with a camera punch hole with Faceid under the screen? I think this is what Ross Young said.
Yeah same battery at best if not worst, I think the camera really needs an upgrade it’s just not good at all:/ I think since iPhone 13 there have been no improvements. They can talk what they want but if I open the photos on my Mac they don’t look betterDisplays with better power efficiency will be nice to have!
I was hoping that the new 3 nm chips on this year’s iPhone 15 Pro would help with energy efficiency but those rumors did not come to fruition :/
I would prefer Apple to stick to the current technology instead of pushing “one step ahead” and charging their customers for it accordingly.
For instance, what’s the real benefit of going for WiFi 7 and “Advanced 5G” when here in Europe ISPs have just barely started rolling out WiFi 6E and 5G (normal) is still far from universally available.
If that’s the case, Apple may have to switch to lighter aluminum on the Pro models to keep the weight down. It’s also possible that Apple may have a special, thicker European model planned and a slimmer model which doesn’t have a user-removable battery for all other markets including the US. With the addition of USB-C, it made sense to have one model for all markets, but a thicker iPhone might reduce the appeal of the iPhone in certain markets like Asia.I should note this may be the last of the iPhone models with the "sealed" battery design. Unless you don’t like a thicker, heavier iPhone, then the 16 Pro would be the one to get.Punch hole camera and removable battery…the iPhone 17 is the one to hold out for.
A better term would be 5x Telephoto. It is true that there is no variable focus like a true zoom might have. Calling it 120mm means absolutely nothing to most users. It’s appropriate to include that term in spec sheets but the 5x marketing gives more people an understanding of what they will see. Please stop saying "5x optical zoom". The word zoom does not mean what you think it means.
5x telephoto, ok. 120mm equivalent, ok. It is NOT 5x optical zoom!!!! Zoom means fast movement. You know, zoom zoom? Stringing "zoom" after "optical" is a lie.

If all above pan out, I will upgrading my 13 Pro to a 16 Pro next year.
I’d give my left nut for an iPhone Pro MiniBroken record here, but I hope the move to 6.3" and 6.9" will lead to a 5.8" Pro in the future.
