My father is visiting, hobbling along with his 6S, and it is shocking the weight difference between it and my 15 Pro. There's a fine balance, and on days when I have a magsafe wallet on the phone, I'm now putting a belt on, because the weight difference is just high enough, it causes problems... and now we're tacking on another 12g.

I used to run with the iPhone 7 in shorts. Zero chance that's happening with the 15 Pro in a pocket. Leaving it at home.

Just be happy there are no lead parts/enclosures. That would have been a toxic brick.

It's "heavier" but if you consider the "density" - or how heavy it feels - as a function of Weight/(Height x Width) then the 16 Pro Max should actually feel lighter than the 15 Pro Max. 16 Pro, however, will feel heavier than the 15 Pro but not as heavy as the 13 and 14 Pros.

Am I reading this correctly? For the first time in a very long time, The Pro and Pro Max line are pretty much having the same feature with the exception that the Pro Max has a larger display and larger battery and therefore longer battery life?

That's pretty cool!

I've wanted a better camera for a long time, although I currently don't intend to upgrade my iPhone 12 Pro.

Sucks when you want some of the Pro features but felt the 15 Pro was already too big and heavy and then they come out with the replacement that is even bigger and heavier. 😢
IDK my wife uses the 15 Pro without issue or complaint about its size or weight.

My Lauch day 15 Plus is still at 100% health after 242 cycles
Same. 200 cycles with my launch day 15 pro and I'm still at 100%. Then again, I have never had a battery issue with an iPhone going back all the way to the 4S.

I think people complaining about weight will get something slightly lighter than the 14pro and pro max next year since that’s when they’re doing the redesign.

That's a pretty significant weight jump for the 16 Pro.
Apple wants to give 13 Pro and 14 Pro users a sense of familiarity. Next year’s 17 Pro will probably go over 200 grams so that’s where the lighter 17 “Air” at a higher price becomes an option. Tim knows what he’s doing.

The new iPhone 16 Pro models are slightly heavier compared to the iPhone 15 Pro models, according to Apple's tech specs for the devices.

iPhone-16-Pro-16x9.jpg

Here are the listed weights for all of the devices:

  • iPhone 15 Pro: 6.60 ounces (187 grams)
  • iPhone 15 Pro Max: 7.81 ounces (221 grams)
  • iPhone 16 Pro: 7.03 ounces (199 grams)
  • iPhone 16 Pro Max: 7.99 ounces (227 grams)
This means the iPhone 16 Pro is 6% heavier than the iPhone 15 Pro, while the iPhone 16 Pro Max is 2.5% heavier than the iPhone 15 Pro Max.

These increases mean that iPhone 16 Pro models are now nearly as heavily as iPhone 14 Pro models, but the titanium frame on iPhone 16 Pro models should still make the devices feel lighter in the hand if you are upgrading from an iPhone 14 Pro model. If you are upgrading from an iPhone 15 Pro model, expect a bit heavier device.

The iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max are equipped with 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch displays, respectively, which are larger than the 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch displays on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. To learn more about the devices, which are available to pre-order starting Friday, read our coverage of Apple's announcement.

Battery's are bigger, therefore heavier and in the Pro's case, the 5x zoom is bigger and heavier than the 3x.
Not going in the right direction though 😏
I'm sticking with my light, compact 15 Pro.
