By the way, has anyone noticed that “button” on the lower region of the right side, where the side button is? I wonder what that could be… There are still mysteries surrounding the iPhone 16.

So happy I skipped the 15 pro.

With another battery replacement, the 14 could easily hold me over until the 17 Pro.
on 14 and you already looking to upgrade? i am on 11 and it works perfectly fine. only thing tempting me is usb-c so i dont need additional cable just for the iPhone.

It would be interesting to see if Apple will move to N3E for the M3. I think this is the node we all are waiting for since the release of the M1.
Considering the little gain between A16 and A17, I doubt we'll get a better one this time. In fact, the difference should be even smaller.

Yeah M3 will be far more interesting than M2 for sure. I'll be particularly curious about battery life.

However, since the M1 Pro chip in my 16" MBP (being the cheapest/slowest chip option available for it) is already massive overkill (I just wanted the big screen and needed the extra RAM), I have no need to upgrade any time soon. The only thing that might tempt me is hugely increased battery life. Or even better, a fanless, thinner model, such as a 16" MBA with up to 32 GB RAM, and also with hugely increased battery life.

Basically, a laptop for software devs, rather than graphics professionals. At the moment, the M chips are aimed at graphics professionals, with massively pumped up GPU's. For us software devs, we have overlapping, but very different needs: We use CPU power, not GPU power, and also don't get much value out of increased core counts. Graphics processing suits multi-threading very well, but code compiling doesn't. Thus the M Pro/Max/Ultra chips are pretty much useless to us. BUT, we do need lots of RAM. And do get value from bigger, brighter, better screens. So due to RAM requirements, the current MBP models are what we need. But we don't need the expensive GPU power, nor the thicker body with the fan. So please Apple, make a Pro laptop for non-graphics pros. Could call it a MBS - MacBook Pro Software Engineer Edition. Thin and fanless like an MBA. Give it 15" and 17" screen options. Give it a hybrid M3 chip with beefier CPU's, lower GPU counts, and RAM options from 16 GB up to 128 GB.

Good to know. Will be interesting to see the improvements compared to A17 Pro

If they call it again iPhone mini, it’s going to be another flop. Not saying that was the only cause of its disastrous sales, but in my humble opinion the naming could have influenced discouraging people to buy it. In my opinion, if they release three iPhone 16, and call them [5.8” iPhone 16], [6.2” iPhone 16] and [6.7” iPhone 16], they could balance more the sales of the devices. But that’s not happening, because the smaller size would have leaked already.

Also the iPhone mini was just 5.4” and again, in my modest opinion, that’s a bit too small for today’s standards. At least a 5.6” device would have sold much better.

And this is is how I get the downvotes and the hate of both, the big iPhone lovers, and the mini devotees. Kinda what happens when I talk about politics, which I don’t do here on MacRumors.
My better 1/2 loves the size of the smallest iphone

Do you know what objective and subjective mean?

I don't think you do.

One person applying and unknown amount of pressure to a phone is NOT objective. That's called a very small subjective sample of one. It wasn't even replicated by that same person.

To extrapolate that to the whole lineup is a hysterical reaction.

Don't worry. I have my degree. I can highly recommend doing it. You learn perspective and common logic.

Indeed you may be able to bend an iPhone 15 Pro with your bare hands, but why would you? I can count on zero fingers the number of times I’ve tried to bend my iPhone. I’ve had an iPhone every year since the 4s and none of them have bent because, you know, I didn’t grab them with my hands and try to bend them. AMAZING!! 🤩

Buying a new iPhone every year. Yikes, you need to get a screen protector or financial support. Or maybe even both!

If both iPhone lines will be using this new tech, then I wonder if Apple will have a proper beefed up Pro chip for the Pro iPhone? This year it was mainly just marketing. Next year they could do something special to differentiate.

According to Ming-Chi-Kuo, this will be the hardest button to button.

Screen protector?? Not sure why I would need that. I have never scratched or broken a screen. Yes, that could change today but so far so good.

Financial support?? Not really. I get them for a good price, hand my current one down to a family member and then sell their current one. Usually costs a net of $200-300 each year to keep us in new - newish phones.
