Today is the iPhone 16e's launch day, and Apple has shared a new ad promoting its most affordable iPhone. The short spot features an inflatable air dancer holding an iPhone 16e.

Designed for social media and other quick ad placements, the ad features the song "Talk" from Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco. It's focused on showing off the design of the iPhone 16e, including the all-display design with Face ID and the single-lens rear camera.

The iPhone 16e is priced starting at $599, and while it is more expensive than the prior-generation iPhone SE 3 that it replaces, it features an A18 chip with Apple Intelligence support, Apple's super efficient modem, Face ID, 48-megapixel camera, and a range of other features that make it a solid alternative to the other iPhone 16 models.

Here we go with the bizarre Apple PR. Now Apple's Official Position on the Matter is "One camera is all you need!" and the phone is future proof. This will be the official position until this fall, when the iPhone 17 PR will claim, "You need three cameras!" and "You need a new processor to take full advantage of Apple Intelligence."

I really don't understand why Apple has to denigrate their own products (is the iPhone 16e really better than the iPhone 16 Pro) simply because a product was more recently released.

I don’t exactly understand what is the problem?
With the tagline and the features being presented, it’s absolutely clear that this phone is not being targeted at anyone who would ever purchase a Pro Max.
They aren’t degrading their other products, cmon now.
Was Steve Jobs degrading the iPod classic because he spent significantly more keynote time on the pretty much inferior in every way iPod Nano, Mini and Shuffle?
Is the MacPro being denigrated because Apple spends a lot more time advertising the MacBook Air?

You certainly can't ignore the price so they got that spot on
Came here to comment this. People certainly aren’t ignoring the price.

Re-read what I wrote. I'm not talking about time spent in a keynote or the number of ads. I'm talking about Apple's own words that one camera is "all you need" and the device with the weakest of the new processors is "future proof." They'll drop this when the new products come out. Their need to denigrate more powerful products with more features because another product was released more recently is bizarre.

I disagree, I don’t think Apple mentioning the amount of cameras means anything.
“One Camera is All You Need” is absolutely no different than Apple talking up how nice it is that the MacBook Air is passively cooled.
What Apple is saying is that the single camera in this phone is powerful enough that for the majority of customers, it will perform all of their needed functions just fine. What Apple did not say was that it was better, superior, or any such vocabulary when comparing it to a phone with two or three cameras.
Likewise, Apple bragging about the passively cooled MacBook Air being fine enough for most consumers doesn’t mean that it’s better, superior, or any such vocabulary than an actively cooled MacBook Pro.
What it sounds like you are mad about is that they made a phone with one camera when you think more is better, and that’s fine. The regular 16 and 16 Pro with extra cameras still exist..

Apple sells what they have to sell.

When SE2/SE3 launched, the press release called it a “compact” and “iconic” design. The truth would have been, it’s a tiny display with an old design.

“One camera is all you need… for $599.”
