With 15 Pros on sale or around $599, 16e is a terrible deal.

Only battery life is better on 16e. But then the 16e display is 60Hz and also not as bright and isn’t an AOD.

Unless you can a 16e at those SE 2020/2022 (launch) prices or lower then I wouldn’t touch it.

Value/$ is just not there at the $599 suggested retail price.

And with colored finishes, just black and white, there’s nothing fun or exciting about how it looks.

This ad just highlights how gutted of both interior(hardware) and exterior value this is.

And also -No Product RED version, why, how?

Tim Cook is so clueless, that he was willing to fire Apple's most visionary and innovative employee, Scott Forstall, as well as stop working with the most talented and creative adversing agency, Chiat\Day. The latter was probably done lagrely in part since Cook is stingy in order to maximize profits. Tightwad Tim stopped working with Chiat\Day (which created Apple's legendary "1984" advertisement as well as many others for Apple) and started having Apple's advertisements made in-house. The result has been ads that are so mediocre, just like Cook himself.

Here we go with the bizarre Apple PR. Now Apple's Official Position on the Matter is "One camera is all you need!" and the phone is future proof. This will be the official position until this fall, when the iPhone 17 PR will claim, "You need three cameras!" and "You need a new processor to take full advantage of Apple Intelligence."

I really don't understand why Apple has to denigrate their own products (is the iPhone 16e really better than the iPhone 16 Pro) simply because a product was more recently released.

The ad says none of that. The ad says what it needs to say, which is that Apple has a new phone and the selling point is the price. Doesn't say a thing about future proof, or one camera being "all you need." That may be what you see, but it's nowhere in the ad.

No Apple products were harmed (or even denigrated) in the making of this ad. 🤣

Because different different carriers will charge people with different plans different prices? Like with every phone?

I figured that was obvious when I saw the ad, but guess not.
1. This is also an ad for Verizon so at least the Verizon pricing could have been shown.

2. If the premise of the ad wasn’t about the price it wouldn’t matter as much, but the tagline is literally regarding the price and then it doesn’t show the price.

Once again, the price will be different depending on what plan you have, whether you want to buy the phone outright or pay it off with a monthly charge, etc.

Just like every phone.

This one is aesthetically and visually bad which is … new. Even the lighting is weird and looks like a junior 3D artist’s experiment in Blender… 🤐

I disagree, I don’t think Apple mentioning the amount of cameras means anything.
“One Camera is All You Need” is absolutely no different than Apple talking up how nice it is that the MacBook Air is passively cooled.
What Apple is saying is that the single camera in this phone is powerful enough that for the majority of customers, it will perform all of their needed functions just fine. What Apple did not say was that it was better, superior, or any such vocabulary when comparing it to a phone with two or three cameras.
Likewise, Apple bragging about the passively cooled MacBook Air being fine enough for most consumers doesn’t mean that it’s better, superior, or any such vocabulary than an actively cooled MacBook Pro.
What it sounds like you are mad about is that they made a phone with one camera when you think more is better, and that’s fine. The regular 16 and 16 Pro with extra cameras still exist..
You are talking about two different ways of describing something. Emphasizing the merits of passive cooling is not an absolutist statement. Saying “one camera is all you need,” is an absolutist statement. It denigrates Apple’s other products simply because they are “older.”

What it sounds like is you are mad someone is pointing out the bizarre approach Apple PR takes when you think “new” is better. Phones with multiple, better camera still exist….

If your current iPhone is on public beta, do not buy the 16e.

You won’t be able to setup from the backup of old phone because it’s 18.4 and 16e only runs 18.3.1.

I have an 800$ brick until 18.4 is released or 16e gets on public beta treadmill.

And it doesn’t have magsafe!! Amazing they did this. Having multiple MagSafe accessories (car vent holder/charger, holding ring -which I’m using right now- , ,even a tripod/selfie stick) I am surprised this phone doesn’t support it.

Yes but most people don’t buy refurbished iPhones & that’s not the point of this device.
The point of this device is going forward the bottom tier iPhone is dearer so they will make more money off it & it’s also designed to upsell you to the next model up.
I suspect the reason why there is only 2 color options is because the one above will have more variety so people might be swayed with that as well

The reason it doesn’t have MagSafe is because Apple want to upsell you to the next model up to squeeze more cash out you by saying look at what your missing

“At a price you can’t ignore”

*Doesn’t say price in ad*

Yeah about the same price as a refurb 15 Pro which is a much better phone in almost all respects (and on the CPU/GPU side it's probably par or better as well). And even if the 15 pro isn't a better cpu/gpu - that hasn't been a problem on the iPhone since at least the 13. But 15 pro has better display, camera, case, etc. and will still get apple intelligence.
