I just measured one of our XRs and it appears centered to me. You might be thinking of a different phone. It’s not even the first time, the iPhone XR also had an off-center lightning port

Just like the Mini and Plus phones, Apple is speculating there is a demand for this phone. Maybe it will succeed where the Plus didn't so sales will ultimately determine its future. Some people also think that the folding iPhonebook will be two 17Airs so this phone is testing the durability of this thin of a phone.Remind me...WHY do we need this ???
No, off-center as in on the Z axis.I just measured one of our XRs and it appears centered to me. You might be thinking of a different phone.
You're right, how about that; it's even off center in relation to the speaker and microphone holes. I'm not sure I ever noticed in all the years of owning an XR.No, off-center as in on the Z axis.
Meaning that the lightning port is closer to the back of the phone than it is the front of the phone, because of the LCD display.
What type of weird gatekeeping is this?If you dont own a 13 Mini or plan on buying an 16E then you dont actually prioritize the size and weight of your phone despite waxing nostalgic about how small and light iPhones used to be.
Relax...no one is gatekeeping you. I said 'prioritize' not "don't care about".What type of weird gatekeeping is this?
You can care about the size and weight of a phone and still have purchased a heavier model due to other factors.
Also, it’s likely that the iPhone Air will be closer in weight to an iPhone 13 mini than an iPhone 16. Current estimates I have seen put it around 155 G, but it will feel even lighter because of the actual size of the device itself.
Me, they are targeting me.I had an iPhone 6 (never had a problem with it), and I just looked it up; it was 6.9mm thick, which already felt super thin! Not sure which users they are targeting for this device though.
Add a case and it's for everyone who says they want an iPhone 17 with a Pro screen and no camera bump. 😁I don’t get why the phone needs to be so thin? Especially when there has to be compromise on the features. I’ve not heard anyone who uses an iPhone say they wished it was thinner.
Oh, I absolutely prioritize size and weight.Fun facts: The 16e is smaller and lighter than the 6S Plus and has the same style camera where there is no bump but the camera itself protrudes a little. The 13 Mini is smaller and lighter than the iPhone 6S but has the camera bump.

Do you want to lose camera modules? It would be interesting to have cameras that were "attacheable" magnetically to the back of the device.
You could keep the cameras in the pocket, and just take out the awesomely thin and light phone, and then attach the cameras only when in need to take a photo.
if rumors are true then it's only 30%If the camera accounted for more than 40% of the area, I would agree with you.
If the 17 Pro Max has a SIM card slot in the US, I'll buy one.Two of the phones have no SIM card slot so assuming that will be the 17 and the 17 Air, leaving the Pros with slots still (outside the US).
My experience with the old hot swappable batteries with that they always felt loose after a couple of years use and would usually fly off if I accidentally dropped my phone. Even the removable batteries on my old MacBooks and iBooks felt loose after years of use.Oh, I absolutely prioritize size and weight.
I want it bigger, thicker and heavier. BIG screen, thick enough to not have a camera wart, with lots of battery. I'd LOVE it if the battery was hot swappable so I could keep a spare on an external charger and always have a fully charged battery ready to go like I always did before iPhones.
Thinner is stupid.
