What do you call this then?

I dunno about anyone else but my iPhone 14 Pro constantly reloads apps with 6GB RAM. 8GB might be good today but I feel it will crawl in just a year or two considering how bad 6GB runs.

12GB to me is the new bare minimum so by default I will choose the Air over the 17.
While I agree on the ram amount, ios does this aggressive reloading even with more ram. I've sold my ipad because it made it basically useless. I wouldn't buy that ugly pos just to be disappointed by the benefits of more ram..

It looks like its tumor has a tumor. That backside is ridiculous. Pros are only slightly better.
Well that would be due to the fact that pretty much ALL of the phone's components are in that visor, so that the entire back panel could be a relatively decent sized battery (compared to the rumors).

As for the Pro... No excuses. It's just ugly.

What is this even referring to.. not seeing whatever you are, the pros are the ugliest by far, the air just looks sleek and sexy. Reminds me of my old iPhone X which was the prettiest iphone til now

I got the same vibe about the Air. Minimalist camera plateau, shiny slightly curved sides, yes please on the iPhone X homage.

Tim, hear us out… an iPhone Air Mini

Or iPhone Mini Air

You can choose the name!
If the Air works as advertised without compromising battery life much, I could totally see the same lessons applied to a future mini. Unfortunately, the folding phone appears to be next in line. Maybe in a few years.

Still wrong at the end of the day , this will fail and hoping it does so Apple never repeats this mistake again
It’s funny that people are complaining about the 17 Air before it’s even out. It’s likely the same folks that complain about Apple being stuck in the design department. Apple is trying something new, I applaud them for it. The mini & the plus were a bust. Let them try thin for a year or two. The market will decide if it stays or goes. It might be a hit, or it might go the way of the mini. I know it’s MacRumors & Apple is doomed all the time. But I’m glad to see them sending new ideas out. 👍🏻

Increase in RAM for the Pro models is nice. Should ensure Apple Intelligence features coming in the years ahead to be easily supported. Would have been good if the base model also got 12GB RAM.

Compared to the base 17? No way. The air is a product no one asked for and is neutered in every way. Only a single camera, no mmWave support, $200 more than the base 17, small battery, etc.
These arguments are so weird, man.

It's a product I asked for. I want the larger screen but lighter and thinner. It's not a difficult concept. You point out all potential negative and then avoid the biggest positive: thickness and weight. And as much as you don't want to hear it, that's actually important to some people. Just because you don't care doesn't mean it's not a positive.

With all the hardware hype, I was open to break my cardinal rule of not upgrading before 4 years (rocking a 15MP). But the Pros are so underwhelming (either black or the rumoured elusive Unicorn color, would have been a must to seal the deal, amongst other things), while the Air is the only appealing one (haters gonna hate) this year, I know with Apple hardware v2 is always the charm… Thanks Apple for helping me keep myself to my cardinal rule!

I don’t understand people that want to obligate everyone to do the same choice. To justify their choice? 17 Air is not a mistake, there might be a market for it, and if Apple’s market studies are correct there is one. If there isn’t, then that’s it: there won’t be an Air v2! But let people choose whatever they want! Honestly, the Max Pro line is the same as buying a formula 1 to go to the beach, all the specs say so! It is geared for professional photographers and video makers, but everyone wants one because it’s trendy… Most of us don’t need or use 90% of it’s camera features, as much as we call ourselves prosumers… (Similar for the Apple Watch Ultra btw… 🥸)
