I am not asking for a thinner phone, however if the battery life is the same as the iphone 17 it would have me interested from a size perspective. I would like something between the 6.1 and 6.7. The new Pro at 6.3 didn't quite do it for me but we shall see how this turns out. I will be coming from a 13

I don't like it - but presumably it's not aesthetic - it must also house components for FACE ID, decent front facing camera and all the rest of it, freeing up room for a thin but larger battery? It HAS TO. Otherwise this is madness.

Of course, this is just a mock up. But this concept has a camera bar across the back of the phone - and yet still has an additional camera bump for the lens. That’s the very definition of bad design.

Apple is shaving the phone down as far as they can before they make it twice as thick again. The folded version is coming in a couple years, this is the step in-between.

I think this camera "platform" would break the kind of wireless charging that is available in cars. The back of the phone won't have full contact with the charging plate if part of it is elevated. Hopefully this is an inaccurate rumor.

There have been several alleged leaked details of the iPhone 17 Air, Apple's rumored new slim iPhone, but images have been limited to grainy shots taken in component factories. However, this hyper-realistic concept created by WEIS Studio gives us the best idea yet of what Apple's thin device might actually look like.

The concept design is inspired by recent leaks indicating that the device will have a super-slim 5.5mm profile. For comparison, the iPhone 16 Pro measures 8.25mm in thickness, while the 11-inch M4 iPad Pro comes in at 5.3mm. That measurement doesn't include the camera bump, which could be thicker to accommodate the single 48-megapixel rear camera rumored for the device.

In terms of size, rumors suggest the iPhone 17 Air will have a 6.6-inch display, which will put it in between the iPhone 17 and the iPhone 17 Pro Max in size. As mentioned, it will have a single-lens rear camera, and Apple could be planning for a horizontal bar-like camera bump at the back.

The iPhone 17 Air is rumored to come with a 120Hz ProMotion display and Apple's in-house 5G modem. It's also expected to feature the A19 chip, Wi-Fi 7, and a more durable display material designed to resist drops and scratches.

Unlike the iPhone 17 Pro models, which prioritize high-end hardware, Apple is reportedly positioning the iPhone 17 Air as a design-focused device. While it may not have the most advanced internal components, its refreshed aesthetic could be a major selling point.

Logged in just to say how absolutely hideous that looks.

Terrible looking and, more importantly, not very ergonomic! If that bar actually contains components, it would make the phone even more top-heavy than it already is - and heavier feeling in normal/porttait use.

If this and 17 pro are real this is very bad. What happened to the design, since when Apple had become fans of Yeezy and Supreme design aesthetic?

Looks like they needs their own sorts of DOGE to fire those dumb wfh designers who come up with ugly ideas like this one.

And yeah, “this is not a final design, why are you mad??”. Been here, seen that. In the end it is always 99% like in the leaked image

Haha wtf eew

Why couldn't they do like this render with the camera built into the housing and flush? What's the point of the housing on the back and then a bump on top of it. If it cannot be built into the housing, just do it like old small camera bumps.

Doing it flush would increase the thickness and weight. Small camera bumps could probably work out if Apple shuffled some internal components. For example, the thickness of Samsung S25 Ultra with its smaller camera rings is 8.2 mm (0.32 inch), whereas comparable iPhone 16 Pro Max is a bit larger, at 8.3 mm (0.33 inch).
