Yes the bumper is thick and it’s rubber. The sides are high to protect the sides and back of your phone.
Interesting, all bumpers seem to have a lip but I’m guessing you mean it’s significantly bigger on the Rhinoshirld

Since I’m ordered the Silver Air. (gives me iPhone X vibes) I’m trying one of those bumper cases. (Never had one before). Want to keep the phone as slim as possible. (Ordered a leather case from Wiiuka, just in case)

Already received the bumper case and tha MagSafe battery (for those who are interested). Here are some photos of it.

Thanks for that

Ok.. I cobbled up a list of iPhone Air cases. This may not be 100% accurate since not everybody publishes detailed specs, but I believe it to be pretty darned accurate. if you find anything, let me know and I'll fix it. The specs on the Bellroy are off, there is no real data there

Casetify’s impact cases for the 17 series are advertised as having an integrated camera control button.

I went ahead and broke my "I'm not going to have more than 5 cases" rule and ordered the Totallee.. hard to beat that spec for thinness . I also ordered an inexpensive set of screen protectors (matte) from Amazon to hold me over until I can see what else is out there. I'm in CA for a while, it should be here in a couple days

I am waiting for my 17PM deep blue here in Croatia but I am torn between these cases.

Coming from 15PM and 16PM I always went for Spigen clear case first and after a month or two Spigen Enzo Aramid.

Thinking of trying Techwoven or Apple silicone case this year, I don like Spigen line up of clear cases as of now.
Might come back to Enzo Aramid

i got a bumper and the battery too. im probably going to return the bumper though. i don’t want to scratch the camera when laying on a table or if i drop it. i too want to keep it as slim as possible. years ago i never used a case. really want to go back to that but they werent so expensive back then.

I ordered an orange iphone 17pro. Anybody else having a tough choice between cases?
Casekoo is cheaper and has an elevated camera island, but is maybe slippery to hold and Torras is expensive and in your face, but maybe not protective enough for the camera in the back.

I come from an otterbox and have no experience with eather one. Any thoughts?

I see Decoded have turned to mild scaremongering to get some sales, lol.

What concerns me more than Decoded’s point is this: The antenna band(s) now extends up the side of the camera bump. In some pics it looks like the band surrounds the camera bump. How much of this is function remains to be seen. It could be for aesthetics, but not sure why Apple would do it for looks.

Anyway…
My first thought was that a metal camera ring might cause reception/transmission problems.

I guess we’ll have to wait and see real world reports and/or phone tear downs to get answers.

Edit: fixed dumb spelling mistake 😳

I’d go with the Pitaka Sunset. Super thin and a great color.

The lip is bigger than the ones you see on Amazon. It’s not eyesore big, but it will offer more protection than the other bumpers I saw on Amazon. Rhinoshield live up to their name.

The iPhone Air looks neat, but once you put it in a case (ANY CASE) the whole point of its design is gone — it’s clearly meant to be used naked. That’s why I’m hesitating, even though I love the fresh new form factor and would give up the Pro’s better camera and battery for it.

For now I’m keeping my 17 Pro Max in orange and grabbing a clear case from Ringke or Spigen (the Sienna Tech Woven looks kinda nice but it still hides most of the color). I’ll still check out the Air on the 19th — maybe it’s so good I’ll finally risk going case-free.
