Flolab 3D privacy guard. This is the second protector I got from them with their warranty and this bubble is persistent. The protector itself did not sit well on the screen in that area. I tried all the methods to remove this bubble but I think it's faulty protector only, the area is kinda bent? if that makes sense which doesn't allow it to sit flush in that area. Kinda disappointed as I waited a whole month for this. Also a lil dust particle beneath the front camera which luckily didn't affect the camera as it's just below it. Alignment is alright though, no cutting of the screen.

Idk I am tired of screen protectors already. Will rock this for sometime but my hunt for a perfect screen protector continues. If anyone finds a good privacy screen protector with no flaws then please recommend one.

EDIT: Applied some pressure and it broke :/ and their customer support has went awol. Such a shame, gonna have to switch to spigen or esr.

I had the exact same issue last year with the Flolab screen protector.

The bubbles simply will not go away.

To the point where I had to lift it back up and dust got underneath and then it got ruined.

It must be something about how strong of an adhesive they use or something like that, but's very prone to creating bubbles and they're insanely difficult to get rid of.

Yeah. I tried lifting it up as well but the protector was bumpy from the inside. I emailed them and also contacted them on insta. Let's see what response they will give me. Apart from this issue everything else felt solid. Wish torras had a privacy version of Origarmour. I am going back to spigen :/

EDIT: They replied me on instagram and then email and are sending me a free replacement. Let's see, I hope the replacement would be good. Good on them for acknowledging the issue though, I almost lost hope but they replied and rectified so it's all good.

Replaced my scratched to hell Origarmor (after getting a full refund from Amazon) with a Flolab One time Pro 3d. Bubbles won’t go away!!!! This thing is impossible to apply. No dust or anything, yet is fulled with bubbles. How do people get these off.

Gonna have to lift an edge and push air out. Risk getting dust in. It’s the only way

After over an hour of significant effort and elbow grease (and mostly my wife stepping up and doing the hard remaining ones) they are all gone, without risking it to lift (it's very dusty here). Look like a good install! (dust particles are over the screen protector, not under it).

Looks like it covers a bit of the screen at the top though, probably to accommodate the earpiece.

Had a similar experience with a corner bubble that wouldn’t go ahead. It gave me hope after massaging it for a couple minutes, only to put that hope into a blender and rip it to pieces as it gradually and methodically creeped its way back.

I spent a good 30-45 mins using constant pressure, massaging that area. I could feel the glass bending with the amount of pressure I applied. Thank God it finally disappeared and never came back.

Definitely better than the OrigArmor in terms of scratches, as I don’t see any micro-scratches after a couple weeks usage, but it seems to block the pixel edges just a tad-bit. The OrigAmor was perfect but too scratch-sensitive.

Anyone tried Walmarts Corning glass Onn brand for the 17 pro max this time around ?
Replying to myself because I tried it. It’s ok coverage seems to be good but there is rainbow effect on the top edge area above the digital island. I find also the oleophobic coating not as good as the previous iPhone 16 pro max version I used.

Well, and the fate of the Flolab. Fell 30 cms on Thursday. Wasn’t worth even the effort to take the bubbles out, lasted a little bit over 50 hours!!!! Ordered the warranty replacement but will take another 2-3 weeks to get here.

Nimaso 3D curved full covered curved glass screen protector. Couldn’t recommend it enough. No it does not have AR but that’s not a deal breaker for me. It covers 99.9% of the screen, does not interfere with any cases, smooth round edges, nice and easy install kit, and covers the earpiece which I prefer because otherwise lint always somehows gets in there. It’s also only $12.99 on Amazon so easy returns if not happy. You only get 1 in the package but for the price it’s still the best deal I’ve found. If you’re looking for a 3D screen protector that does not cover any part of your screen and covers the earpiece but don’t mind it not having AR then you should definitely try this. I’ve had this installed for almost a month now with 0 scratches unlike my Torras Origarmor screen protector. It also repels fingerprints great and the wipe away easily so it’s got a really good oleophobic coating. Let me know if anyone else has tried this product or if you order one and try it out for yourself I’d love to hear what you guys think.

I usually buy the cheap protectors for my devices and have no issues with them, but the brand I landed on this time (amFilm) has been an anomaly, and unsatisfactory primarily due to its overly conservative coverage area, excessive, dust-catching perimeter, and abrupt edges.

The marketing claims associated with protectors are usually sketchy to begin with, especially if brands change suppliers, which is highly likely as these are commodity items, so one has to rely on real world experiences to hope to WYSIWYG.

The device accessory game is a great racket, and I can't bring myself to spend $30+ for a sheet of glass that costs less than a dollar in wholesale quantities, no matter how many replacements a brand is willing to provide. Packaged with a plastic installation guide, that figure only rises to two to three dollars each in quantity.

The fact that brands are so willing and able to provide free replacements for even the cheapest ones, and user errors, ought to be a clue as to how little they cost to obtain. I'm in the wrong business…

But thanks for providing a pointer to someone who is selling a true, full-coverage protector. $13 is still a bit hard to swallow, but at least there should be some assurance that the product lives up to its claims, at least with respect to coverage.

A protector doing it job at protecting the phone screen from scratches by getting scratched itself and people are returning 😄😄.

You’ll have your cases in a case soon
The thing is, if you have some mohs picks, it’s very easy to disprove their marketing of “9H+” hardness. The origamor are around a 7, and scratch easier than many screen protectors that are a fraction of the cost. In fact, I have never had a screen protector pick up scratches so easily.

Wanted to post a review of the GoblinBox Screen Protector on my wife’s iPhone 17 Pro, which comes in a 2-Pack for $25 (at the time of this review):

Coverage
  • Probably the best coverage I’ve experienced so far among OrigAmor, Flolab 3D, and Blueo Sapphire on my 17 Pro Max
  • Very close to the edge of the frame but should be compatible with most cases that don’t go over the screen
  • Blocks pixels on either side of the screen just by a tiny, as you can see from the camera screenshot that the side vertical lines are still visible, but it’s not as thick as the horizontal lines
  • No light bleeds as coverage is very close to the edge

Installation
  • Extremely difficult
  • Tray makes it extremely easy to install perfectly as long as you align the tabs correctly
  • However, the bubbles post-installation was a nightmare
  • Took about 45-minutes to completely remove all bubbles with constant hard pressure and massaging around affected areas
  • If you don’t have the patience, I do not recommend this screen protector

Quality
  • Quality is great, no micro-scratches after a couple weeks heavy usage, unlike the OrigAmor that scratches very easily on my 17 Pro Max with very light usage
  • NON ANTI-REFLECTIVE, so if you want that feature, pass on this one and maybe look into the Flolab 3D NanoArmour ONETIME Pro

Moved phone to a different case with an exposed camera plateau, so finally got around to installing the protectors I ordered from Aliexpress, as well as a different one for the main screen.

For the plateau, I was only looking for something to mitigate light scratches and other minor surface blemishes, not one of the full glass canopies that cover everything. But I did order a couple of those out of curiosity, as they're dirt cheap as well. I might have considered installing those if they left the lenses uncovered, but they don't, and I did not want to potentially compromise camera performance.

The one I did install are labeled as "DIXSG" brand in the listing, as well as a Brand+ item, which presumably means something, but in practice, they came unbranded in one of the ubiquitous small ziplock envelopes, and are available from a multitude of sellers. They claim to be glass, which is plausible, but could also very well be some kind of rigid plastic film. They do have sharp edges and aren't floppy like the old PET film screen protectors.

In short, regardless if they are, or aren't glass, I'm satisfied that they'll serve as desired, and were little risk, costing about 50 cents each in a five-pack.

The only minor thing I might wish for is if they were matte, not glossy. Those are also available, but I couldn't find ones cut in a pattern that fully enclosed the camera turrets, and that took priority.

Installation was straightforward, and I even managed to get the alignment pretty close on the first attempt. A tip -- one of the squeegees that are now included with some protector kits was very useful to help get the confined areas around the camera turrets to adhere properly.

For the main screen, I took a chance on a protector from a brand called AmazingThing, which seemed to offer some pretty polished products at a decent cost.

Scant reviews can be found about them, but they looked good on paper, having "full" coverage, all the usual bullet points, as well as AR coating, at a acceptably reasonable cost in the $10-15 range. Higher than I normally would pay for something of this nature, but you only live once…no?

Initial impressions are that this protector turned out to be fine, but a bit disappointing for two reasons --

1) the coverage area isn't truly full, which is what motivated me to replace the prior cheap amFilm. It's better, but still leaves more of dust collecting gap around the perimeter than I'd like, and despite being described as 3D, the edges aren't as progressively rounded as hoped. Though as pictured, it does have the bump to cover the top speaker area.

2) Upon installation, there were a few stubborn minor bubbles. Certainly nowhere nearly as bad as with the one reviewed above, but it didn't lay down completely cleanly as the amFilm did at half the cost. But, the real issue is the three small splotchy areas that didn't go away, and aren't bubbles, but flaws in the adhesive or other layers. They can only be seen on a black screen, but paying more for disappointing results wasn't in my game plan.

I contacted the company with a question prior to purchase, and they responded quickly, and clearly. I'll contact them about this issue, and see how they respond.

Still, even if they provide a replacement unit to try, I suspect I'll reluctantly pony up and order the Nimaso pictured above for its coverage area and edge profile.

Credit where credit is due. Flolab did right by me and sent me a replacement protector free of cost, no shipping as the previous one was faulty and I am so happy with this one. It's perfect. The alignment, AR coating, clarity and privacy are all on point. Possibly the best screen protector by a long shot.

Upon a second look, it doesn't look like that installation contraption did any favors to the process.

Gravity does a pretty good job of helping the glass protectors set on their own, and trying to mimic the hated old credit car imprint machines by steamrolling the pane from the top puts the onus on it being able to smoothy and progressively apply even pressure, perhaps too much to ask from a cheap apparatus that is basically disposable in nature.

The adhesive layers on the glass protectors are surprisingly resilient, and tolerant of lifting and progressively resetting, so I might have tried doing that instead of having to apply time and pressue squeeze the gaps out. Modern phone screens are tough, but still glass and vulnerable to cracks.

Idiot-proofing aids to help the installation process have come a long way, from the initial alignment frames solutions that gave a smaller, more precise target to aim for when laying down the glass. I usually ignored them because the tolerances weren't that tight, and I could achieve better alignment by hand.

Currently, I've only used the kind that come pre-assembled, with a frame that goes over the top, and the pull tab, rest, and peel-off process, and they work pretty darn well; simple and effective. I wonder if whomever came up with the solution tried to patent it?

Just some more random thoughts going through my mind, after securing a replacement for the bum one I installed earlier. The new one doesn't have any flaws, but there was a small but stubborn edge bubble that wouldn't go away, even after lifting and resetting it a few times. Finally decided to sticker the underside, and that did the trick. There was an imperceptible spec of dust that was causing the bubble.

Interesting. So this has black borders but doesn’t cover any pixels ? A first for black border type screen protectors perhaps.

The one I just installed doesn't, when checked against the Project Indigo camera app.

Can't say if it would be the same with Apple's camera app, since the brackets aren't present in 26.

Could you please save this image and then open it on the Photos app and see if it covers the L’s?

Not on my 17 Pro, at least from a direct viewing angle.

But tilt the phone left/right off angle, and the borders will start to occlude the lateral edges, so the margins are thin.
The Indigo app behaves similarly, so it could serve as a suitable indicator without having to rely on that screenshot.

I'd also be remiss to not note that brands can and do change suppliers, or their designs, so there is the risk that the product I received will not be the exact same as another purchase.

Apple provides clear guidelines for the glass makers to target and avoid issues.

But accessory makers can make compromises, to have one shared product that is compatible with a wider range of models, albeit with some minor issues most users will never notice, rather than tailor their products specifically for each model, and incur those additional incremental costs.

This can be seen with some cases, and is probably easier with protectors. Or some brands may simply not care, and just ignore the guidelines entirely, like by placing metal components in the "no fly zone" Apple has declared around the camera plateau.

Apple, for its part, also seemingly revels in making minor dimensional changes from generation to generation, though I don't subscribe to the notion that is due to malice or the desire to drive upgrades.

Must be the next generation of black bordered tempered glass protectors that don’t cover any pixels. Also looks similar to the one the other poster installed difference being one is a two pack and one is a one pack. 12.99 and 24.99. I pulled the trigger on the one I quoted yesterday, I think user called Bryan posted it.

After experimenting and using a few different screen protectors - belkin, esr, spigen, torras - the torras is the clear winner. The torras origarmor does not block any part of the screen and the rounded edges are great. Belkin is also great but the edges are rough and collect so much dust. I hope the torras holds up well to scratches and everyday use because the fit is perfect and it isn’t cheap to replace.

The OrigArmor would have been the perfect one, but my OCD couldn’t handle the micro-scratche. I ended up getting a sapphire screen protector, but I loose the Anti-Reflectiveness.
