Ok, I get it, the 17 Air is the 'test-subject' so they know how to make a new mini later.
I can wait ☺️

Doesn’t apply. Apple Watch uses proprietary hardware for charging wirelessly. The regulation in EU is about unification of charging ports/cables.EU regulation is the answer to why.
To my knowledge, wireless charging is not part of the regulation. The EU directive allows for full wireless charging without a port, as long as it's not propritary.
The last home button iPad Pros had USB 3.0 Lighting but Apple only made use of it in their camera connection kit. Try didnt even do a cable to take advantage of it.Lightning had the potential to be developed and Apple could have allowed others to do so.
Lighting is a superior port (imo) given it’s a single solid piece and smaller than usb c with no central thin connections.
iPhone MagSafe isnt even proprietary any more now that Apple gave it to the QI2 standard. To my knowledge, wireless charging is not part of the regulation.
If a device charges via cable, it must include USB-C. MacBooks with MagSafe are acceptable because they have USB-C in addition to the MagSafe port. If there’s a device that is ONLY charged wirelessly, there is no issue with it having proprietary charging hardware, such as Apple Watch.
You may not like what you’re waiting for if this new “mini” turns out to be a folding iPhone. Then again, maybe you will. Anyway, the 17 “Air” sounds like another upsell phone to push people to the Pro models.Ok, I get it, the 17 Air is the 'test-subject' so they know how to make a new mini later.

iPhone 6 was the first foldable phone.I wonder if they did the butt test. I hope it won’t be like the iPhone 6.
I love USB-C because I can use it to charge all my devices. It's not flimsy either, it's fine.Apple caused usb c. They could have allowed licensing of lightning to other manufacturers or just let anyone use it many companies would have quickly jumped on board and it would have become standard.
But no. Apple help it as proprietary.
What alternatives are you considering? If that camera bump is real i will never buy another iPhone.
I am already looking at alternatives because Apple hasn't innovated anything in a few years, but one thing it still had going for itself is design - despite the notch, it was still looking better than any Android.
The addition of this Pixel-esque bump will remove this advantage as well - iPhone will be just like any other fugly phone. It hurts my eyes.

I think it's going to be the opposite.
The ONLY way this abomination will sell is if it turns out to be dirt cheap. Nobody actually wants the reduced battery or the extra-bendable thin phone. It won't sell as well as the mini.
There might be some initial sales, but once the JerryRigEverything video comes out, it's done.
It works, but after a while of being in stressed position and dirty pockets, it gets kinda loose and is a bit more difficult to clean that lightning. I’ve never had a loose lightning port but struggle with the usb-c ports on my Mac mini not being tight enough every now and then.I love USB-C because I can use it to charge all my devices. It's not flimsy either, it's fine.
It's the best feature the 15 pro had over the 14.. well second best, after the weight loss..
Was referring to MacBooks’ and Apple Watches’ magnetic charging mechanisms, not that of iPhones.iPhone MagSafe isnt even proprietary any more now that Apple gave it to the QI2 standard.
