The camera sticking so far out from the bump is what ruins the Air:
Almost exclusively wireless charging on my 15 Pro and I am at 94% health for 424 cycles.
I really think this is going to be a case where the internet is wrong. It's going to be one of their top selling devices in the new lineup, mainly because it is different.
I'll call it the reverse iphone mini. The internet would have led you to believe it was the end game of all phones and would be sold out everywhere. Reality, it got cut because it only sold to the loud minority. I think we are seeing the loud minority online confused about this phone, but it might sell better than them all.
Only time will tell, but I see a very big difference between online and anyone in real life that even knows about the phone.
I've never found wireless charging any more convenient than wired. I plug in at bedtime, and unplug before leaving for work. I can share the cables with my wife (Pixel 8), my laptop, my work laptop, the kids Switch, etc.
Simple.
Who asked for this?
There will be a butt surgery option via Apple Health to ensure a compatible butt.I wonder if they did the butt test. I hope it won’t be like the iPhone 6.
It's to reduce the wobble.so if it's only got one lens, why does it need that oversized camera bump spanning the width of the phone? The recently released 16E has a single lens too and doesn't bother with the bar. Isn't the goal to be thin?
It's to reduce the wobble.
EU regulations don't forbid wireless-only charging.EU regulation is the answer to why.
The bar stretching to the other side still reduces (not eliminates) the wobble. On the Air, the camera is almost as thick as the body. That would wobble like crazy without the stretched bump.If the lens was flush with the camera bar, that would make sense, but the lens still sticks out as if the bar isn't there (based on renders).
What do you use it for? It's practical for documenting things in small spaces, but in general, the wide angle on iPhones looks like a..?I want one but I really need the .5 zoom. Use it all the time.

A foldable affords about double the battery volume, you can't really compare that.Oppo Fold is already at 4.21mm when open, so I feel like Apple should match that with a phone that will launch almost 2 years after Oppo launched theirs.
iPhone 17 Air, a whole bunch of compromises
USB-C is way better. I can’t ever remember having to wiggle an older USB-C cable to get one of the contacts to work. Lightning I have this issue.USB-C is nice but flimsy in my experience, I always preferred the lightning connector, thinner, more secure and foolproof, they should have stuck with it, way easier to accommodate on a this design.
EU allows wireless only charging. The reg only applies if there is a port. I suspect that is not far away for the iPhone, at least the non pro models.EU regulation is the answer to why.
That was in reference to another comment talking about Apple's foldable, not about the iPhone AirA foldable affords about double the battery volume, you can't really compare that.
I think it's going to be the opposite.I really think this is going to be a case where the internet is wrong. It's going to be one of their top selling devices in the new lineup, mainly because it is different.

iPhone mini wouldn't be discontinued either. If Steve Jobs was alive there would be no port and it would be even thinner.
I want a Dolphin (aca mini) 🐬That camera bump is cringingly ugly.
Don't know if it's already been mentioned, but it kinda looks like a hammer-shark.

Those who only buy a big phone and usually no iPad’s.Who asked for this?
I would hope anyone going for this model realizes that it’s going to be more fragile than one of the beefy boys and doesn’t sit on it lolI wonder if they did the butt test. I hope it won’t be like the iPhone 6.
