The camera sticking so far out from the bump is what ruins the Air:

Almost exclusively wireless charging on my 15 Pro and I am at 94% health for 424 cycles.

I've never found wireless charging any more convenient than wired. I plug in at bedtime, and unplug before leaving for work. I can share the cables with my wife (Pixel 8), my laptop, my work laptop, the kids Switch, etc.

Simple.

I really think this is going to be a case where the internet is wrong. It's going to be one of their top selling devices in the new lineup, mainly because it is different.

I'll call it the reverse iphone mini. The internet would have led you to believe it was the end game of all phones and would be sold out everywhere. Reality, it got cut because it only sold to the loud minority. I think we are seeing the loud minority online confused about this phone, but it might sell better than them all.

Only time will tell, but I see a very big difference between online and anyone in real life that even knows about the phone.

I get the appeal of it; I'd love a minimalist, and lighter, iPhone. Won't be in the market for a new phone for a few years, but I still like the idea.

I see the appeal of the 16e too, even outside of the lower price.

The real place where convenience shines is stands. Most quality stands go the wireless route vs a docked in wired solution.

I typically see two types of people. Those that plug their phone in and lay it on a table and those that use wireless stands. Not saying one is better than the other, but that is the difference.

Who asked for this?

I certainly did wanting an iPhone that's not a chore quickly getting it into and out of the pockets of shirts I like to wear. No doubt many others have wanted a thinner iPhone as well.

I'm very much looking forward to checking it out.

Thininnovation. Are we going to start over with a super thin iPhone. Wow! Maybe next year we get 2 cameras and more colors. I am so blown away and excited! (maybe just a hint of sarcasm)

If the lens was flush with the camera bar, that would make sense, but the lens still sticks out as if the bar isn't there (based on renders).
The bar stretching to the other side still reduces (not eliminates) the wobble. On the Air, the camera is almost as thick as the body. That would wobble like crazy without the stretched bump.

So how long before Apple goes thinner, and has a charging port bump on the back in the same way they have the camera bump?

I hope the display is still at the top and not at the bottom and I hope FaceID hasn't moved a millimetre to the left. It would be nice if the AirPods could still be used wirelessly, I hope so!

But most importantly, hopefully the iPhone can still be used without an external power cable, do you have more info on that @MacRumors?

Can you please make another post, if anything (really anything!) else has changed, I can't sleep without a new update.

Oppo Fold is already at 4.21mm when open, so I feel like Apple should match that with a phone that will launch almost 2 years after Oppo launched theirs.
A foldable affords about double the battery volume, you can't really compare that.

USB-C is nice but flimsy in my experience, I always preferred the lightning connector, thinner, more secure and foolproof, they should have stuck with it, way easier to accommodate on a this design.
USB-C is way better. I can’t ever remember having to wiggle an older USB-C cable to get one of the contacts to work. Lightning I have this issue.

I think it's going to be the opposite.

The ONLY way this abomination will sell is if it turns out to be dirt cheap. Nobody actually wants the reduced battery or the extra-bendable thin phone. It won't sell as well as the mini.

There might be some initial sales, but once the JerryRigEverything video comes out, it's done.
