I posted this two years ago:
It’s funny, I pulled out my iPhone 6 recently and it felt like the future. The thinnest phone they ever made and it is very light as well. In fact I was even slightly astonished once again that everything could fit in such a minuscule chassis and yet have full functionality.

It essentially felt as if it were the minimum thickness/weight that you would care to make a phone it even if they could be made smaller. I could nearly imagine flipping it around like a TV remote, and caring just as less if it went flying across the room. I think this is where we should go for the future of phones. Take all the advancements of current phones and get them back into tiny packages of a few years ago.

Don’t let small numbers fool you - the size and weight make a huge difference. If this thing is real (and it isn’t one half of the rumored foldable) you will actually be impressed by the iPhone again.

I cant imagine having such strong preferences about a phone. Are you ok?
Some people can think for themselves and know exactly what they want after using all the options. Others don’t care. You obviously don’t care. Don’t question my mental health by it. It’s against the rules here.

I really like the ecosystem Apple has but it shouldn’t require one brand to make an ecosystem work. It’s the definition of anticompetitive practices. This will end eventually.

I would love to run an EU iOS device that’s actually by Apple but updated iPhone that’s the exact Samsung Ultra but has an A-series SoC in it. Samsung makes nicer devices. Apple has a better ecosystem. Apple is better at the SoC but they’re all so fast right now for phones it doesn’t really matter.

If I could run iOS EU version on a Samsung Ultra, that would be my phone. I like the Pixel 8 Pro, but it’s not perfect. It feels better than iPhone but it’s not as durable - having dropped my 15PM so many times I know it can sustain more drops. The Pixel is Google which has downsides. But I am not against any company. I prefer to buy Apple products but I want not an open OS that’s open source, I want to do whatever I want with my phone, tablet and computer. They shouldn’t have to be the same brand to work together. This is what an anticompetitive company does to make money. It’s beyond fair and the tech is just too widely used to allow any company to act like Apple, Google, Meta and so on.
This is why it's a good thing there are options. I can't stand Samsung phones, I haven't seen one I liked yet. There have been one or two Pixels that I haven't hated, but I've not yet seen another phone that can compete with an iPhone in my estimation. That's not to say it won't happen, the competition is working hard to close the gap! My experience with iPhones just makes other phones seem to be cheap 'no frills' competitors.

I hope they reinforce the frame or else "bend-gate" will be back with a vengeance. I can see the flood of youtube videos now.

What would really be noticeable is smaller, human-friendly screen. This is too big. But then again, to each their own. I guess my 13 mini got another year contract 😂

Amazing, this would solve the huge pain point of current iPhones that are almost 8 millimeters thick! Every day I'm struggling with my iPhone and I keep thinking, "man, if only it were one millimeter thinner, the world would be a better place!"
I wonder if it ever occurred to you that it’s the overall volume of the device that you struggle with? It’s not only the thickness, but also the size of it, ie the larger screen that so many think is the best thing since sliced bread.

I use the mini, which is just as thick as the larger model of the iPhone and guess what, I never struggle with it, ever. In fact, it’s a perfect phone to use while you are actually walking, running or anything else you do outside of a couch. For couch there are other devices that most people have, either a laptop or a tablet.

Even with a thinner iPhone you will struggle, it’s the larger perimeter that makes you struggle, not its thickness.

Screen size for the 16 Plus is 6.7”, so this just seems like a tweak to the form using thinness for the appeal and rebrand as ‘Air’ (or similar)

As has been said by many, wake me up when we have flush camera lenses again

“Slim at the compromise of Pro features”, yet the Slim will have the main ‘Pro’ feature that most care about, which is a faster refresh rate screen (possibly full fat Promotion).

Would you please think about that for a second?

Here are your options if you want a flush camera island:
- make the iPhone thick enough = much thicker and heavier device
- make the camera island thinker = big reduction in camera quality

I don't think you realise those are 2 terrible options. So what Apple does by having a great camera that sticks out is by far the best option.
Personally, I'd choose the option where there's no camera bump. The selfie camera is good enough for me so just put one flush on the back too.

Am I the only one excited for this? 😅. Sure phones don't need to be thinner and sure battery life will take a bit of a hit, but I'm excited to see it, it'll feel so futuristic. It's that excitement similar to the original MacBook Air, or early iPads/iPhones when they got slimmer and lighter. It's just impressive and nice to hold. I think it's a good way to differentiate the lineup. The only issue I have is the single camera... I draw the line at no ultra wide camera. If they gave it the 2 cameras, I'd probably get it.

Not that I think it's going to be a bad product, but... Who asked for this, exactly?
I did. I don’t like heavy and thick phones with camera bumps. Hope ‘Air’ won’t have camera bump at all and only one camera.
