Makes sense that the 17 is basically a 16 Pro minus a cameras. It’s so feature packed and such a phenomenal upgrade to even the 16 that I’m sure they did that to push out to 2027 the next upgrade.

If you're saying that the iPhone 11 Pro Max being not enough to run iOS 26.x then why is it that (some) people who are still using a 1 year old device like the iPhone 16 Pro Max experiencing issues and bugs after upgrading to iOS 26.x ?

The base 17 is decent. Finally a phone with the basics people want. Who would have thought that having a decent screen refresh rate and good cameras would make a great phone ! /s

The rest 17pro lineup.. fugly and heavy.

The air .. unloved generally and niche. (Thanks to the 17base being so good).

The ios26 beta put me off staying with iphone so I switched to Android (has worked out very well) but if I were coming back I'd get a base 17 over the pros any day.

What'd you go with on the Android side? Just curious.

The only bug I’ve consistently seen since moving to the 17 Pro is the tap on a web link and Safari not opening it one. All of the UI bugginess is gone (probably because it’s so fast you can’t see it, lol).

It's a company phone, so I get what I get. Next year, I'll be upgraded to the 16e or 17e; whatever is available.

I talked to IT about it and they basically told me to deal with it until they approve 26.2.

Sounds like it’s your company’s software that’s the problem, not Apple’s iOS 26.1… you can’t fault Apple for that. When you’re finally allowed to upgrade it will work just fine. 👍🏻

That’s the thing. People on MacRumors post complaints about Apple constantly, but they almost never provide context. They don’t tell you what device model or OS they have & never provide context, such as it’s a work phone & the company controls the software on it. It’s always Apple’s fault! I have the iPhone 17 Pro max & today it’s on iOS 26.1 & my iPhone is problem free. It’s been a very solid upgrade from my previous iPhone 13 Pro Max on iOS 26.1 & was also problem free. Do I love everything Apple does? No, I think it’s plain stupid they stopped selling leather cases, but I can get those from Nomad. 👍🏻

The two people I know with a mini are near retirement age.

It's a phone for people who aren't glued to the screen, as most under 25 are.

Ironically I think this may be one of the bigger markets for the folding phone as well. Older people (hopefully) have disposable income and want big screens and perhaps also want just one device rather than phone/tablet/computer/tv.

Switched to Samsung S25 Edge. Thought it had a better spec compared to the rumoured air. (It did). Quite happy with the switch. Android is different, and arguably better in many places but equally Apple has something special going on too which most people seem happy with. More freedom to set things exactly how I want them and I find Android more intuitive & capable. Sorry for late reply. Just noticed this!
