It was a great line up to be fair. But the pro / pro max are trending in the wrong direction (thick heavy etc). The regular 17 is fine but possibly lacking RAM to last a few years once (if!) these local AI models arrive. Hope the 18 has a telephoto solution better than cropping the image. Even the regular Samsung S26 has a telephoto. Couldnt care for the wide lens.

I hardly see any of these in public. Maybe it's just me lol

Anecdotally I have seen lots of them. Three people off the top of my head with the exact same model and color as mine, so that's four Pro Max right there.

No Airs though, and when I went to a T-Mobile store to look at a display model, it was broken. No one seemed to care.

I asked the associate if they had sold many, and for what it's worth she said no, everyone gets the orange Pro or Pro Max. They didn't even have one of those for display.

It's always amazing when the media talks about how bad the economy is, yet the Pro models are still selling like crazy. It makes me wonder, are not so many families being impacted economically, OR is this a status thing where people don't want to be seen using anything less than a Pro model?

I take this as vindication that people do in fact care about 120Hz displays, despite being told every time I mentioned it by someone in the comments that nobody cares.

Quick edit: I'll grant that buyers of the 17e likely in fact do not care.
Some MR forum members will say anything to convince themselves and attempt to convince others that just because it may not matter to them then “nobody cares”. It’s some cognitive dissonance with some RFD.

Exact and Same are the same meaning. It’s like saying Up Above.

Exact model or Same model conveys the meaning equally no need to double state.

Is there an Exact Different model or Same Another model.

What next Up Below or Above Down there?

/rant 😅

The iPhone Air was the most “Apple” device in the lineup. Love the Air. The others are the same ‘ol same ‘ol.
Air is same ‘ol with less or a neutered iPhone. iPhone 16 Pro had Ti and the 17 Pro for a material downgrade but it’s all the same candy bar shape iPhone.

As people seem to doubt the Air exists: I have one, just bought it. ****ing love it. Of all the ”downsides” people mention, it is only the sound quality that gets me, but it is a downside I can live with as there are AirPod Pros close by.

Battery life? It lasts me all day.
One-lens camera? It is an Air. Something has to give, and this one I see as a small upside even.

It will be nice to see the numbers per device. I bet it is thanks to the base 17.

I would like to like the Air, but is so bulky that its design looses its purpose. Liquid Glass is also a no go for me. I hope to see in the future a 17 style Air with a 6.3 or 6.1 inch screen, that would make more sense in my opinion. That would make me buy another iPhone (and getting rid of Liquid Glass)

Got the regular iPhone 17 and like it a lot! I hope the fluid performance experience will last for a few years down the line.

iPhone 17 series phones are excellent. I have the 17 Pro Max and it is a great phone. The base 17 too is great with double the storage and ProMotion. Think it will sell well throughout the year.

Honestly it’s one of the greatest YoY upgrades. Biggest for standard series since 12 and biggest for pro since 13 Pro.

My only complaints :
1/ iPhone Air was priced too high and really would benefit from stereo speakers and at least dual camera setup on the back
2/ Standard has 8GB ram while it’s great now I hope it will not degrade the experience too fast after 3-4 year mark

Personally I would insta buy an Air 2 with telephoto (I don’t like ultra wide but that subjective) and stereo speakers. It’s really a comfortable device to use daily

RE: the Air, yesterday my 11 year old son was telling me that the iPhone Air is a "bad" phone. I asked him why he thought that and he said some other kid had said it in the playground at school. For context, almost no one in his age group even has a smartphone yet (though most will be getting a used one for high school so it's a hot topic for discussion). If kids are bad mouthing the Air in primary school playgrounds it really has a reputation problem, whether deserved or not.
