Small and lightweight feels the most premium to me. Like the iPhone 5 / SE 2016 did. Big and heavy is just clunky.
Never in human history has “lighter” been associated with “premium.” Heavier jewelry is more premium. Heavier gold bars are more premium. Heavier phones that last longer but still look nice on the outside are more premium than something that’s so thin and light, it bends in your pocket and has half the battery life of something thicker. Even Apple’s MacBook Pro, their “premium” laptop, is thicker and heavier than the MacBook Air.

At some point, making something heavier just because it "feels premium" is silly. The stainless iPhone Pros 12 to 14 were so heavy they had to move to titanium because it was getting to be too much.

I'm aware that some people prefer the Max version, and for them obviously size and weight isn't a concern, but for many people (at least 65%) prefer a regular sized phone. Presumably a lot of that preference includes the weight.

Tell that to aircraft designers, race car enthusiasts, bike racers, Everest climbers … premium lightweight designs are often very costly. Human history is complicated.
