iPhone 17 Pro: 12GB RAM Rumor Gets Third Confirmation From Analyst

What are you talking about the post i replied too was about 3gb & 4gb iPhones getting less features on iOS 19 getting less features nothing to do with apple intelligence but the actual core os update.
In other words that’s nonsense.

The iPhone XS & iPhone 11 versions are missing some iOS 18 features because there specs can’t handle all the features.
What are they missing? Can you describe a feature that is specifically software bound on memory and not related to newer hardware or cpu advancements?

My cousin works at Apple and initially it was only the Pro Max which would get the upgrade. However Apple noticed too late that AI will play a huge rol so they upgraded their entire line up. The 16e was initially also coming with 6GB.

Check the website it details what’s missing it’s to do with the chip & ram not being able to handle certain things
I did and it’s all hardware based, based on new hardware added to future models. If you would like to provide some examples instead of deflecting that I do your research, it would be appreciated.

I’ll give an example: promotion. Why? Because it’s a future hardware feature.

If the render is correct, even with the ugly bar across the back, the cameras still protrude, so the phone will still rock when on a flat table 🤦🏻‍♂️. Let’s hope it’s wrong!
The phone will not rock if the bump is extending that wide. Certainly not side to side as they can now. If it’s rocking top to bottom it’s because it’s being forced to/played with. Non issue.

No you never mate because the iPhones I mentioned are missing iOS 18 features as it says available on iPhone 12 and above

When you are sitting 8 to 10 feet away from your Big Screen, 4k vs 8k is not something to worry about. You cannot see the differance.

RAM is powered memory, so more RAM does use more power. But tasks running quicker and not hitting RAM limits saves you power. The net result is you have a more performant phone at a higher cost and the battery is about the same.

Silicon carbide batteries and Apple’s work on their own modems are what is going to eventually improve battery life. Just not sure what gen we are going to to see those gains in.
Consider these tests

Doubling RAM from 8 to 16gb has virtually no power consumption impact on idle (Linux laptop), minimal impact on video playback. You have to up 8x the RAM to get more than 10% difference.

The saving from having to more frequently kick out and relaunch apps, a much more expensive operation, probably means less battery consumption overall.

And reduce their icloud+ subscriptions? Not going to happen!
At some point they also reduce their device sales. They can’t be stuck on 1TB forever, especially when the iPads have a 2TB storage tier

They will make more from me with one 2TB iPhone sale than they ever will from the iCloud subscription I was never getting anyway. And once I am on 2TB I am practically guaranteed to keep purchasing 2TB devices (or greater) in the future.

It ultimately depends on how long you keep your device for?
For example if you purchase iPhone 16 pro max 256gb for 1,199 & keep it for 36 months
Then pay for iCloud at 8.99 a month
Your total is 1,522.64 in total
So your saving about $78 in total against
1tb version

Don't people pay for iCloud to back up all their photos? Because yeah lots of people have no desktop or don't know how / can't be bothered to do it. Apple is eating good, double dipping

So iOS is going to get ipadOS split view?
Yea Split View, or some smaller version of stage manager would be the key. If my iPad Pro form 2018 can do it, im sure an iphone 15 or 16 pro should be able to do it. I hope for this to finally arrive at WWDC this year.

Not the bump itself but the camera housing seem to protrude further than the bump (!) on one side, which looks like it would rock.

I'm glad I skipped iPhone 16 Pro. 17 Pro Max is a true upgrade from my 15 PM. More RAM & the new design, which I very much like!
Yeah, the 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max will be the first iPhones that were truly designed with AI in mind. Now if that will matter to a lot of people may be another story. AI hasn’t been a runaway success so far.
