It's so spooky knowing that prototypes walk among us.
With the glasses, it reminds me of:

"You might even vote for one this fall" alright.

I got excited for a second not seeing the two tone square on the back

Apple has been making sure this happens every year since the first iPhone came out.
Not news.

Is this written for TMZ or MacRumors? The tone of this article seems really off compared to what’s typically posted.

“Your guess is as good as ours”, “Who knows”, and “Allegedly!” It just feels weird this got past the editor as it was written. If they even have an editor 🤨
this. noticed the same thing. this article is worded very differently from other Macrumors articles.
post-Prosser-Macrumors is just, weird. more weird than usual.

I am only curious about where in the US it is cold enough to be wearing a long-sleeve shirt under a padded vest in the middle of summer at daylight time.
Pretty much anywhere near a West coast ocean. Where I am, ugh, I stay in my AC on a couch all day.

I lived in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan for years. It's gorgeous up there right now. Marquette. Nice weather.

Same critique here. Not to beat a dead horse but it sounds so much like it was written by AI or at least heavily assisted by it. It's a little uncanny.

Seriously?!? Is that all we're getting this year? It'd better still have a Qualcomm modem, at least.

This cost-reduced product lineup is beyond stale at this point.

Northern coastal California, at minimum. The high today where I am is 66F and while I am wearing a short-sleeved shirt I do have a jacket because it's plenty cool enough to need one in the morning or evening. And that's on a clear, sunny day--a couple days ago it was cloudy, foggy, and definitely cool enough you'd want long sleeves and/or a jacket even in the middle of the day.

Cupertino is usually somewhat warmer than that, but other parts of the Bay Area were cooler today than where I am, and that's not at all unusual even in the middle of summer.

Lol, this reminds me of the time when I was out at a nightclub in Las Vegas and ran into a Verizon employee, who had an iPhone 11 Pro or Pro Max with a Qualcomm modem in it. This was just before Apple and Qualcomm settled their dispute, and Qualcomm became the modem supplier to Apple again.

Apple could be playing a joke. Why wouldn’t it be in a case!?
It is, though? The big black brick is a plenty chunky case, the entire suspicion is because there are cutouts on the opposite side of the top from the camera lenses that look like they could be a flash and LIDAR sensor, which are not over there on any current model. Maybe you're confusing it for the current model he's holding behind the chunky black cased one?

In any case (ha!), this seems like a rather non-leak leak since there are renders of roughly that design everywhere.

My question, assuming this is in fact the final layout, remains: If you're going to put a huge bump on the top, why not go all-in on that and put lenses on opposite sides to improve stereo separation for recording Spatial Video? I get that almost no one uses it currently, but seems like an obvious advantage to a big chunky design like that. I suppose it does reduce the ability to seamlessly transfer between lenses when zooming, which might be why, and people are obviously going to do that exponentially more frequently than they take Spatial Video.

What's the point of taping over the Apple logo?
Never mind, answered my own question + as the article suggests, it's probably concealing "a data matrix code that allows Apple to track internal iPhones used by employees for development purposes".

The sticker/tape is slightly above the Apple logo on the iPhone 16 Pro.
