Whilst I don't support the price rises, most people that buy these devices will offset them on a 4-year monthly contract and not really notice the price increase. Marketers will also sell it as a $50 price cut for the 256gb model.

Hopefully Apple have some surprises up their sleeves like a telephoto lens and desktop-out.

I don’t see it. Either $999 or $1099. Apple likes round numbers.
I agree. And at that price point there is less price sensitivity, $100 doesn't feel that much.

i.e. whereas $599 for the 16e feels a lot more than $500 (imho the ideal price for it, given the competition).

Not that I'm advocating for Apple to put up their prices more, but just agreeing with you - the 100 increments seem way way more Apple-y.

It’s called balancing design language. Without it upper part of the phone would feels to heavy cuz of new cam module design
Unpopular opinion: Lumia 800 was my favourite phone design of all time. Not counting folding phones, no one since that has proven that it’s possible to design a nice looking phone that’s not just an iPhone ripoff.

Would this not be a 50$ price reduction?
Yep, I’ve been saying all along that the iPhones are about $50-$100 too expensive, not just the 16e* as people have been complaining about price-wise, but all of the iPhone line. Furthermore, 256 GB makes sense for the base Pros.

I’m not expecting the non-Pro lines to go down in price just yet*, but bringing down the Pro 256 GB models by US$50 would be a good start, even if the US$999 128 GB Pro tier is eliminated.

*The iPhone 16e temporarily dropped by CA$200 just weeks at Wal-Mart Canada after I bought it. Doh! :( This essentially never happens here, so I guess 16e sales were tepid at full retail price. Decent phone though, and IMO a better value in several ways than the CA$100 more expensive 15 non-Pro.

Actually the prices in Europe (at least in France) will stay stable (someone working at Apple told me), precisely because they’re already much higher in Europe than in US and because of the exchange rates

I thought that too but made a mockup and it doesn't look odd without it. It's very different from their current design language, especially the fade is very 'trendy' and I feel it will look dated quite quickly.

Or perhaps because there may not be much in extra tariff costs in Europe.

I am so used to Foldable prices now (I am on my 3rd), anything below 1,5k still seems "okay" to me nowadays 🫣
Haha. Exactly. The fact that I didn't think "Oh, my Fold 7 cost me $2,000" says a lot. It just seems normal now since I've had quite a few foldables over the years.

An iPhone 16 Pro with 256 GB of storage is currently $1099. I'll take the bump in storage for $50 less than it would cost for the current model. And a far cry from the "more than $1400" this site said the Pro model could cost due to tariffs.
Interesting point that the phone has technically gotten cheaper. Adjusted for inflation, even more so, I suppose.

Only "technically" the Pro gets $50 "cheaper", because storage prices are meanwhile way, way cheaper than they were f. e. year(s) ago! [edit] ...and even then storage was way cheaper than Apple asked us for!

Anyone remember when you could buy a decked-out iPhone for $700 fifteen years ago? The base iPhones were like $400. And even back then people thought this was crazy expensive.

It's useless to convert the currency for the European market because Apple always asks much more than the converted rate in the EU.
They didn’t just convert the American price, they showed the cost in Germany and then added a conversion to give Americans an idea of the impact of that price increase in their native land.

Whats funny is that the iPhone has gone up in price over the years, but my macbook pro from 2008 is the same price today. The iPhone was 400$ in 2008.
