With my iPhone 17 Pro I'm noticing very bad roaming from one wireless access point to another.

It will even completely lose signal when it gets far enough from the access point it's connected to, and the only way to get it to reconnect is by toggling WiFi off and back on again.

I know not many others will have multiple wireless access points at home (I use UniFi), but I'm wondering if anybody else has experienced the same thing?

My previous iPhone 15 Pro Max roamed perfectly as I walk through the house, and I've not changed any settings in UniFi for at least 8 months now. My AP's are 1x U6-LR, 2x U6-Lite and 1 AC Pro (in an area of the house rarely used).

Yes, I’ve noticed the same thing on my Ubiquiti network — very poor roaming between APs and consequently poor WiFi performance. The iPhone 17 Pro Max also seems to favour slow and congested 2.4 GHz networks which I have never seen before from an iPhone or iPad. Needs a software fix fairly quickly I think.

I need to do some testing on my Decco WiFi 7 network. If you have MLO enabled, try disabling that and monitoring it.

I've discovered the same thing. I can be stadnding right in front of an AP but the phone will stay connected to the last AP it was on at the far end of the house, dropping the connection and reconnecting to the same AP despite having very low signal. I've also got the problem with it dropping connection to my wireless carplay (Ottocast) so guessing these are realted issues. As a test, I've just created a new SSID with 5GHz only and from a short test it roams seamlessly between APs as i move around the house. Will see how it goes over the next few days.

I think I'm having a similar issue with my ASUS mesh routers. And occasional lag issues using the Remote app with my ATV4K, despite being in the same room as it and one of the routers.

I have the same problem with IP 17 Pro. Asus mesh works good with other my devices. The WiFi connection drops (shows “No Internet Connection” or fails to load data), requiring a manual toggle of WiFi off/on to restore functionality. This happens consistently during AP switches, but the connection is stable when staying near a single AP.

IOS 27.0.1 and 27.1 beta - the same issue

My 17 Pro was dropping Wi-Fi connection 8m away from my router while my OGSE was getting a perfect signal. The new Pro was buffering videos while the OGSE was streaming videos without a hitch.

I had to ‘Forget this Network’ and reconnect for it to work properly.

I hope Apple can fix this soon as it’s a very basic issue.

Bro, did you sort it out? Even I have update the the latest ios26.1, I still have the same problem, I am using ZTE mesh router

This may be why my 17 Pro had a hell if a time syncing data after I did my iCloud restore. For over a week I had syncing issues. My iPhone Air completed the same restore in hours in one day. Interesting.

I don’t use a mesh WiFi system either.

Raising this topic again…..
Just had my broadband increased and could not understand why my 17 Pro Max is horrendously slow.
Network is a minimum 700mbps and the 17 pro max only reaches 200mbps at best.
Try the same test on my previous 15 Pro Max and it reaches 700+mbps every time.
Even tried it on my other iPads and it’s the same.

Obviously Apple still have not got this sorted.

Did you try other speed test apps?

Yes, two others. It has nothing to do with the Apps as all other devices carry a much greater speed increase.
That’s strange. For me, Speedtest app shows slower WiFi for 17P compared to my 13P while nPerf shows much faster speeds.

I have the same problem with my iPhone 17 (base) and Unifi mesh network. I’ll walk to the other side of the house, and the phone will remain connected to a distant AP with barely any signal. Annoying for Facetime calls. Flipping the phone’s wifi off and back on works, but we shouldn’t have to. I have band steering and fast roaming enabled in my Unifi settings, and it worked perfectly with my older 13 Mini.

Mine has no problem now, IOS 26.3.1

I think you may be on to something. I’m getting better speeds, although still not as good as any of my other devices. Where I was only getting around 200mbps on my 17 Pro Max I’m now seeing around 350mbps. Still slow when compared to other devices reaching 700+mbps.
