Eh that’s a very niche use though. I’m sure there’s plenty an iPhone does that Samsungs and pixels don’t. Namely it doesn’t run android which is a plus
Ive been with Apple since iPhone 4 but the lack of innovation in the past 5 years is a joke. If the phone 17 Pro doesn’t get 8K recording i am looking forward to get a Pixel 10 phone… not with Android form Google but i will install GrapheneOS, then i can finally say goodbye to big corporations making privacy decisions for us.

I mean I could never sacrifice an adult quality ecosystem bc of a lack of 8k recording. But to each their own.

Besides the pixel doesn’t even record in 8k natively. It’s ai enhanced 4k.

I think the apple eco system is exactly what apple is gambling on to keep people trapped. I have started to move myself out if this eco system. It is better to have individual, privacy focused applications for all tasks you want to accomplish with a smart phone than to depend on a manufacturer that with all purposes tries to keep you trapped. Once you realize that you dont “need” the ecosystem, you will start seeing alternative options. There are plenty of them. Obviously you can read between the lines and see it’s not all about 8K recording. It’s a summary of the past years of decisions that apple made that feel uncomfortable to me. A good tool for videography is what i need for work. And I believe that apple does make phones with good videography, but i also realize that some other phones also produce great videography. I want to use an iphone 17 pro with 8K video recording as my work phone and then get a Pixel Phone with GrapheneOS as my private phone. But a phone that might costs 1750 usd with 500gb storage, apple care and taxes (no Tarif fees included yet), better gives me the results i need for my work. And if it doenst then i will go somewhere else instead. And i think everybody should choose to do that and vote with their money. The ecosystem is just a marketing thing, once you realize that you dont need it, you will feel free to chosoe other brands too.

It always cracks me up when people refer to apple fans as being trapped in the ecosystem. I am not trapped when I can easily go elsewhere.

There’s just no other good OS or ecosystem.

It’s better to have fluid experience. From my phone to my Mac to my iPad to my vision pro to my AirPods.

My experience is catered around the products I use. I don’t have to rely on third parties to do what my phone can do natively.

Because they all work together like one being. THATS why an ecosystem and a robust one at that is better.

A centralized experienced will always trump multiple apps and products from various manufacturer and developers that don’t always play well together.

When I was a windows phone fan girl I was heavily into the Microsoft ecosystem bc I wanted a centralized experience.

Even when unfortunately was an Android fan (thank god I jumped that ship), I too was a Google ecosystem fan.
Microsoft does decently if I was still into windows but the Google ecosystem is terrible compared to Apple and Android apps are crap compared to Apple apps.

No. I don’t need anything except for my phone and products to work seamlessly together. I want a strong ecosystem.

But I don’t want other brands lol.

Android is a terrible OS and most Android phones are trash.

It’s not marketing. It’s reality. We aren’t trapped as much as Android fans try to make it sound like bc they can’t fathom why anyone would choose and see Apple, it’s products, it’s ecosystem over Android.

The synergy of Apple ecosystem is unmatched and that’s why we aren’t trapped. I willingly ran from Android into the garden.

But hey at least Android has 8k recording 🤣😂

I’m truly happy for you! I wash i was so easy to please…

Think so. It will be similar to the camera cut out of iPad Pro. Will be a single colour for the whole back of the phone. Waiting to hear about the colour choices this year.

They are essentially returning to 2007, working on the blueprints of Samsung’s thinnest phone at that time.

Apple's upcoming iPhone 17 Pro models will feature a redesigned rear camera panel that spans the width of the device, but it will be the same color as the iPhone itself, rather than being part of a two-tone design.

That's according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. Writing in his latest Power On newsletter, the reporter says the iPhone 17 Pro won't have a two-toned back, as some renders have depicted. "The camera area will be the same color as the rest of the device," he says.
In this sense, apart from the new Google Pixel-esque camera module, the iPhone 17 Pro "won't a major departure from current models," reckons Gurman.

According to The Information, Apple has chosen a half glass, half aluminum build for its iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max to increase durability. The glass will allow wireless charging to continue to be available, while a partial aluminum frame will be less prone to breakage.

This year's iPhone 17 series will also include a new ultra-slim iPhone 17 "Air" model that replaces the Plus device in the lineup. The new models are expected to be announced in September.

Can we get rid of this ugly bump for the camera already. Who in their right mind thinks any of the recent iPhones look good with these warts sticking out of the back.
Obviously the issue is the depth needed to contain the camera units. So what would an appropriate design decision be?

Make the whole unit that thick? Or downgrade the camera to fit in a smaller space? Or?

Titanium feels sooooooo much more premium than aluminum though. Aluminum is prone to scratches, chips and scuffs just from regular use. Hate to see that on a premium device.
I get where you’re coming from, and I do prefer titanium, although I can’t say I’ve ever had a Aluminium device scratch from normal usage. I would love the leaks to be wrong though. Unless they can somehow slightly polish the aluminium to look like Titanium. They already look similar, it’s just in the finish that you see it.

Actually, everything is possible but , , What's about the price and quality not to mention that Americans have to work in assembling lines! I saw with my own eyes how the assembling lines are in China and how it works, guess non American would like to work there (even many things are automatic) same as the farmers complained about the Americans who help to harvest fruits, to hard work to hot and so on and many left after hrs or a days work not to mention the salary🤭

Couldn't care less about this stuff! Bumps, humps and colour means nothing to me. Case on, 'problem' solved. How many people actually rock their phone without a case these days??
A lot of people, actually. And it is becoming more common as phones become more durable. It's still safer to stick with a case, though.

They probably need extra volume for new 48 mpx periscope telephoto unit. It's not just a plastic add-on for aesthetic purpose (to smoothen lens protrusion), but it will likely design of the frame. So, painting that area in grey or black may not be sensible. Leaving it with body colour is a better idea.

Eh, I'll be smuggling my next phone from Canada anyway. The Canadian models still have physical SIM card slots.
We have the same sh*t here in Turkey for 2 decades. Gov. figured that no matter how much tax they add on top of the device price, people will still buy it. So, the 16 Pro starts here from $2400. What people do is to drive to the next country and buy it from there, but then they still have to pay $1160 to use a cellular service for devices bought outside the country.

So, if tariffs will be a thing, then I believe they will also start coming up with those kinds of extra service fees for devices purchased in person from the other side of the border to avoid mass purchases outside the US.
