Please no, my hands hurt as it is. What we want is battery life, which could be accomplished with another die shrink, as performance is already pretty greatWhy not make them thicker with more battery and no camera bump?
I actually find the Dynamic Island concept to be fantastic asymmetrical thinking and a brilliant use of the space. I use it every day.I love how Apple conned the world that a useless black oval further down the screen was better than the notch.
But it does nothing that the notch didn't achieve, except eat further into the screen.I actually find the Dynamic Island concept to be fantastic asymmetrical thinking and a brilliant use of the space. I use it every day.
The objection isn't to it being thin, it is to the inevitable compromises that come with thinness. If it is thinner, it can't have as much battery or as good a camera. (Yes, advancements elsewhere can partially compensate for this, but thin never helps anything.). "Thin" is often the excuse for losing ports and features we like. And it risks bending the phone. It shows Apple's arrogance for telling, rather than asking what we actually want. The weirdest and stupidest complaints I hate seeing on the comment section are, why so thin?
? …it’s dynamic… it adds visual multitasking to the iPhone, it’s greatBut it does nothing that the notch didn't achieve, except eat further into the screen.
Well, you don't really have a choice, do you?I use it every day.
That’s objectively false. The notch was just a black screen element. It didn’t show you the status of any background apps, etc. in other words, it wasn’t “Dynamic.”But it does nothing that the notch didn't achieve, except eat further into the screen.
If they can give you all day battery life and still make it thin and light, what’s the problem? No one should be using an iPad more than 10 hours in a day, and if you forget to charge it, that’s not really the fault of Apple and everyone else who would prefer it to be lighter. It’s also bad for the environment for everyone to be carrying around extra battery capacity they don’t needThe objection isn't to it being thin, it is to the inevitable compromises that come with thinness. Uh, yeah, you do. It’s a UI/UX element— you can choose click on it to access ongoing directions in Maps, music in Spotify, Voice Memo recording, etc. Or you can choose not to and ignore it. 😁Well, you don't really have a choice, do you?
But it could have been had it been coded to do so like the dynamic island. The DI is literally a notch further down the screen. That’s objectively false. The notch was just a black screen element. It didn’t show you the status of any background apps, etc. in other words, it wasn’t “Dynamic.”

They could program the notch to do the same. The notch could stretch horizontally and vertically in the same manner.? …it’s dynamic… it adds visual multitasking to the iPhone, it’s great
Yes it could, the notch could literally stretch horizontally and do the same thing, if they coded it to.The way the Dynamic Island shows info about media playing in the background and controls or shows timers or gps information couldn’t be replicate the same with the notch.
It's been said that a large portion of both Windows and Intel chips are crud that is rarely used but are there to support all the outdated crud. It's a circular punch in the face. My worry, as with the latest MacBook Pro is they listen to the loud minority and they figure, why even try? And we end up with the stagnation of both Windows and Intel and every other company that stagnated and got leapfrogged by catering to current consumers who like conformity and want cars to be compatible with the horse.Preachh!! 🙌🏻 The new macbooks are def a step backwards in design, & this is exactly what I say when people complain about Apple dropping support for stuff like 32 bit, switching architectures, etc
Sometimes I wonder if they purposely do major shifts from time to time in order to force devs to update their apps, which keeps things progressing and keeps their UI aesthetic consistent. Don’t want to end up like Windows where there’s always a jumble of different UI’s, it makes me cringe every time I use it
Not trying to silence anyone, and the opinions go both ways. My opinion is that the whining made the Macbook Pro thicker unnecessarily for those who whined about it. I have no issue with using Thunderbolt or dongles for ports I rarely or ever use instead. I doubt Steve Jobs who mandated getting rid of unnecessary or outdated ports would have succumbed to the whiners. The problem is that if you do not keep moving forward and keep building on the old crud such as with Windows making sure all types of old outdated stuff stay compatible, you end up end up slowing progress. You need to keep moving forward.
If you really care about the highest fidelity screen for your entertainment of choice, and not missing a single pixel of the action, should you really be watching it on a phone at all?Well, you don't really have a choice, do you?
Anyone who honestly wanted that area could implement it in software, without the need for a dead area on the screen below it.
And a hot swappable battery, and a headphone jack, and a home button, and no stupid notch/pill!Why not make them thicker with more battery and no camera bump?
That would have no battery life. Apple's fatal mistake with the 12 Mini was keeping it the same thickness as its other phones that had greater surface area; it should have been a little thicker to offer more volume for a battery. The 13s battery life is fairly decent, but the reputation was already tarnished and Apple had already canceled future plans by the time the 13 mini came out.iPhone 17 Slim Mini please.
Won’t argue on that headphone jack. What exactly do we need a home button for though? And a hot swappable battery, and a headphone jack, and a home button, and no stupid notch/pill!
I don't care if it's twice or three times as thick as they are now. I don't care if it weighs 5x as much. I'm just sick of the HORRIBLE compromises Apple has made to functionality because of Ive's gross anorexia fetish.
The weirdest and stupidest complaints I hate seeing on the comment section are, why so thin? Who asked for that? Why is the chip so powerful? Who needs more power? I mean there are budget phones from other manufacturers or even older iPhones you can buy. If you do not need the state of the art you have tons of options, but don't try to drag the entire iPhone or iPad down to YOUR level.
