Well then I hope they're bracing for lower sales. The economy needs to be rebooted.I think a lot of people that are saying the “the iPhone 16e is not affordable” are going to quickly be changing their tune when they see the price of the regular iPhone 17 this fall
The regular version of the 17 could end up costing what the 16 pro cost now. And I can tell ya that the regular 17 is not going to be a better value than what the 16e cost now.
Of course to each their own. Bit that $599 price could very quickly become a thing of the past. Basically we may very soon never see an iPhone that cheap again. At least not a new one
The Air isn’t meant to be a budget phone. What you’re calling “gimped” is prioritizing weight over features. If they didn’t do that or gimp it then you say, it would be a iPhone Pro Max.So is the Air! It's been gimped of every useful feature by the looks of things,..so essentually should be cheaper.

REVEALED: Here's Who Uses iPhone Cases And Why
We ran a survey to find out what iPhone users have cases and why.www.businessinsider.com
Sorry 86%.
I've seen maybe 4-5 people, in my lifetime, using a caseless iPhone.
I use my iPhone 16e as my second line work phone and I love it.. I don’t see why I would upgrade it anytime as it simply does the job. Primary phone is whatever is the latest iPhone top spec there is (yes, I upgrade every year).
Earlier this year, Apple released the iPhone 16e, a more affordable iPhone 16 model that starts at $599 in the United States.

While the iPhone 16e effectively replaced the iPhone SE, it is also a first-of-its-kind device, so the release cadence for future models has yet to be established. In other words, it is unclear if Apple will release an iPhone 17e next year.
Apple only updated the iPhone SE once every few years, and a new report suggests that trend might continue with the "e" model.
The Information today outlined a long list of iPhone models that Apple plans to release in 2025, 2026, and 2027, including an iPhone 18e in the spring of 2027. The report made no mention of an iPhone 17e, so such a model is looking less likely.
From the report:In his newsletter last month, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman said that Apple has yet to reach a final decision on releasing an iPhone 17e.
All in all, an iPhone 17e is looking less likely as of now. But, things can change.

I‘m guessing Apple will skip the 19 generation in 2027 and call it the 20, or XX, for the 20 years anniversary… So it could be a XXe, maybe? As stupid as that may look in writing…Of course. The SE ships once every 3 generations. No 17e nor 18e. The next one will be a 19e. Maybe.
I agree they will skip the 19 just like they skipped the 9. It’s possible that the E will be upgraded every other year which means the pricing in relation to the current year regular phone could be.I‘m guessing Apple will skip the 19 generation in 2027 and call it the 20, or XX, for the 20 years anniversary… So it could be a XXe, maybe?
