And the iPad Pro. That modem’s ability to achieve perfectly usable bandwidth in areas where my iPhone 17 Pro Max just gave up is amazing. People with Apple Modems are going to be able to be used in areas where Qualcomm modems consider it a dead zone. Apple should not be this much better at modems and SoC’s than Qualcomm and Intel, but here we are.

iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone Duo Feature Apple's New C2 Modem [Updated]

Since the $1 billion in December 2019, the modem business for Apple is finally getting somewhere.
In all fairness to him the formatting in the tech specs sheet makes it ambiguous, especially for the U.K. market, where as the Canadian page leaves no ambiguity.
If the Pro Max uses C2, why does Apple's spec page only show it in the Pro, not the Pro Max (in the U.S. market)?

Perhaps Apple is just fulfilling a contractual requirement with Qualcomm.
Can we get a confirmation on this? Twitter seems to think Pro Max is Qualcomm while Duo/Pro is C2. Tech specs page seems to confirm this is the case.

Hence the reason why I wonder is the US-market iPhone 18 Pro Max using essentially the same Qualcomm modem as the one on the Galaxy S26 Ultra, which is the Snapdragon X85? The smaller iPhone 18 Pro likely is using the C2 modem, probably for power consumption reasons due to the smaller battery.

That one page seems to be the only conformation so far. I hope it's just missing, I really like the C1 chip.

Looking on the Apple website, it says the Pro uses the Apple C2 modem but doesn’t list it for the Pro Max.
Apple Switzerland website shows C2 for both Pro and Pro Max, maybe US version Pro Max will be without?
Do we have any clue if the C2 supports NR-NTN?

Probably just an US limitation, other countries Pro Max has C2. Checked a few European countries and they all have C2 in Pro Max specs.

On the Cellular Networks page on Apple’s site, both are listed as supporting LTE band 106.
How’s the C1X in real life use vs Qualcomm? Anyone have any experiences to share? I have Visible, which is on Verizon, so I am curious to see how it fares.

Yeah DC-HSPA+ is kind of pointless. Anyone running DC HSPA would have moved to LTE at minimum by now. Annoyed that they still limit mmWave to the US and also that they didn’t give 5G satellite ability via NR-NTN to 17 Pro with the X80 chip.

I have the 17 Pro Max and an iPhone Air, and they’re about the same in day-to-day use. The only noticeable difference is no mmWave (which comes in handy at crowded events like concerts).

Finished the keynote and the duo is better than I thought I terms of compromises. No telephoto, but I have a 17 pro max and will keep it even with a duo.
I like the tweaks in iOS and the C2 Modem in the US, finally ditching Qualcomm.
Still not buying this year and will wait for Duo 2 next year. Sadly memory prices won’t drop anytime soon.

Actually the reason is simple. China. Dual screen is very popular in China. Unfortunately C2 still miss some capabilities for China mobile.
