If only it wasn’t 2-tone. A fully-backed metallic deep red would be 100x better.
I think one of the prettiest reds I see these days is the Soul Red Crystal Metallic from Mazda.

Frankly if Apple is going to go Earth tone with the red, then I would also do at least one other (tan/flat dark earth). Or not, do red as a flyer and gauge the demand.

I wonder what the opposite color will be now... If they go with this dark red I assume poop brown is out which is a good thing. Maybe that purple makes a return? I am hoping a dark green of some kind.

Another prediction: Red, White, and Blue hues for the America 250.

I still really want this, but if the rumor is true that it will be as heavy (or heavier) than my 14 PM, it's a no-go.

I recently bought the Zagg (Mophie) Juice Pack battery case for my replacement iPhone 17 Pro Max. The only color of the iPhone one can see is the top of the camera lens plateau. The only color for the Juice Pack is black. So long as there is a silver or white option, it works for me.

Of course next year Apple will change the external measurements by a fraction of a millimeter to make all existing cases obsolete.

I miss the days back when the hottest rumors were about new groundbreaking functionality, new iOS features that were actually useful, camera and display improvements and so on.

Now it feels like most of the public are mainly interested in whether the color of the phone will match their outfit / car / whatever…

It’s just not very much to write home about anymore and even less a reason to upgrade beyond planned obsolescence.
I don’t know, the rumors of a white 3GS were a huge deal in 2008.

Smartphones are a mature product now. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. You don't look for some 'revolutionary innovation' when you shop for a toaster or fridge.

I hope no one considers Xiaomi to be a 'rival' of Apple.

If you want to know how shameless Xiaomi is... it deliberately skipped the launch of Xiaomi 16 phones, and immediately jumped from Xiaomi 15 to Xiaomi 17 in 2025... to have 'parity' with the iPhone 17 Pro. Xiaomi 17 Pro also has a 'redesigned' camera bump which is strangely familiar.

This level of innovation is something Apple can do, although even with this they will probably pick the worst shade in the palette.

They already broke it with dithering and PWM. They could fix those, but that level of innovation is well beyond Apple's capabilities at this point.

There are far too many "settings" on a new iPhone for most people to even comprehend let alone do something with.

The beauty, in Apple's design team's mind, is that the customers will spend a full year trying to use their latest whiz bang features, if they can only find them in the hundreds of sub-menus.

So the following year they can build upon the confusion saying they improved certain functions that no one found from the year before.

I think the pile of barn yard by products has reached the point where folks are thinking a simple flip phone could do the job of making and receiving calls for under $100. Folks would cheerfully smile and wave as the top of the barnyard pile sank out of sight in to the sink hole by the sheer weight of the pile......

Anyone deciding between Android or iPhone solely based on color, don't deserve an iPhone.
"deserve"? This isn't 10-years ago when the iPhone was a status symbol. And to be honest, I'm pretty sure no one goes ooooh-ahhhh when then see one (unless they're looking to steal it). Androids can cost just as much.

Over the years, Mazda has maintained, IMO, one of the best looking red colors in cars.

If "Deep Red" is replacing Cosmic Orange and there will be no black, I assume silver will remain in the lineup. What will the 3rd color be though? I wonder if they'd keep Deep Blue or make another option.

Apple never been the same since the loss of Steve Jobs. At the same time android would also
Never ever be my choice of platform!

Thieves will give your Android back to you as it's worth nothing significant.
Many large businesses don't allow their employees to connect to their network with Android devices.
The U.S. Government doesn't allow it either.

Android's popularity is their cheap price and their rush to release half-baked novelty features first.

Let me rephrase that: "... don't deserve to have a phone".

A red color will be great. Hopefully it won't be too dark. Will be great if the Pro models get a fun new color every year. I love my Orange 17 Pro Max.
