"The iPhone 18 Pro Max may be slightly thicker"

The iPhone Air has proved that most customers don't care about thickness, so Apple is now trying the reverse: a slightly thicker phone to accomodate a larger battery and, maybe, less space restrictions for the cameras.
Personally, with any portable device, I care more about weight than thickness (granted, both often go together). One of the reasons I don't use an iPad is the extra weight when I hold it compared to an iPhone. Sure, I can always put it down on a table, but then I might as well use a MacBook.

Haven’t read report but hope it mentions 18 rumored to be bigger and heavier than 17 and 14 max

Well I have held out with my 14PM so will be getting the 18PM regardless. The updates look good enough for me just hoping for a black or a jungle green color option.

Will I move on from my 14PM? Or can I hold out another year for the XX? 🤔

IDK how you use two 14, I had it for a year or so and it was rough. For a phone you sometimes must hold one handed it’s unwieldy compared to 15 or 16 max. Titanium makes all the difference, I recommend 16 max and skip 18 since it’s supposed to be even heavier and thicker than 14 and 17 max smh

16 = the perfect balance and camera control is amazing (for launching), great mic, camera, bigger screen, battery etc etc

I feel like we've reached the limit of what I need in my pocket in terms of a Phone. I still have my iPhone 15 Pro and still can't think of a single reason to upgrade it.

Camera control there’s your reason - it’s an amazing way to get quick camera control without having to use action button for it..

How is this a new feature? What are we doing here MR with these articles lately.

It’s def new for ppl (probably tons of em) upgrading from earlier than 16 pro series with the higher screes.

I’ll allow it.

I'm that way with my 16 Pro.

Wish I had 15 Pro, actually, since it it's lighter.

Don’t forget it supposedly has thermal issues and is missing camera control. My previous favorite way to open camera would be “press screen then swipe from right side” but now it’s just a quick and easy double click on the side of the entire device - easy peez

Am I the only person in the world who doesn't care about what color my iPhone is?

Once it's in a case, who knows anyway?

I hear you but matching/contrasting the phone with the case is fun I see the pleasure in that (THEN matching outfits and hair, accessories, cars lol etc)

Like my high school was black and orange so 17 pro max orange with a black case would’ve been the jam…just too heavy/big of a phone…

100%!! I'm actually surprised the battery life is still above 90% over 2 years in. And, it's titanium...

Huh?! Really? What are we doing? What's going on? 'The same overall design...' That's the rule. That's the goal now.

How is “same overall design” a new feature?
It's not. They did the same thing with last year's iPhone too. It's just lazy journalism, filler content. And if last year is anything to go by, expect this article to be reposted another 20 times or so before the phone's actual release.

I am not buying it unless the main camera sensor is meaningfully better. Variable aperture on small sensors is pointless. DJI action 6 has and it barely does anything for the image while adding a fragile moving part.

Also are there any actual rumors of a C2 chip or are we just adding 1 to C1 and assuming?

It's like Conan's joke about the sequel to F1 being called Caps Lock.
It’s just a natural progression for the nomenclature. They’re not going to use an old chip for a Pro series so most definitely a C2. Not sure of any actual rumors confirming the name though.

Hopefully the rumored red won’t be too dark. The new chips should bring the usual speed improvements though they won’t be noticeable in day to day activities.

Honestly, I just wish they would fix the camera switching issue. I have the Pro 17 but had various Pro's before this and they all have the same frustrating issue. If I create a video and start off 1x, I can zoom all the way to 8x but I cannot zoom out to 0.5x and if I start out with 0.5x then I can only zoom to 3.8x or something like that.

There is also a noticeable difference at the quality of video that I record if I start out with 0.5x or 1x. The 1x seems to be better quality compared to selecting 0.5x to start the record and then up it to 1x.

Seems like a limitation that CAN be overcome.

The next issue is I want to hold my phone vertically but take horizontal video. Apple FINALLY allows this on the front-facing camera. I want the back-facing cameras to do the same.

Other than that, turn SIRI into an AI agent that is capable of using natural language to make my phone do what I want it to do. There is some of that, but I would like to have a conversation and have it do tasks within apps and be interactive.

While the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are not expected to launch for another six months or so, there are already plenty of rumors about the devices.

iPhone-18-Pro-Deep-Red-Feature.jpg

It was initially reported that the iPhone 18 Pro models would have fully under-screen Face ID, with only a front camera visible in the top-left corner of the screen. However, the latest rumors indicate that only one Face ID component will be moved under the screen on the devices, which will result in merely a smaller Dynamic Island.

Below, we have recapped eight features rumored for the iPhone 18 Pro models, as of March 2026:
  • Red Color: The special color for the iPhone 18 Pro models will reportedly be red.
  • Smaller Dynamic Island: It has been rumored that Face ID's flood illuminator will be moved under the screen on the iPhone 18 Pro models, paving the way for a smaller Dynamic Island on the devices.
  • 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch Display Sizes: The next Pro models are expected to have the same overall design as the iPhone 17 Pro models, including 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch display sizes and a "plateau" housing three rear cameras.
  • LTPO+ Displays: More power-efficient displays could contribute to longer battery life.
  • Variable Aperture: The main 48-megapixel Fusion camera on both iPhone 18 Pro models is rumored to have a variable aperture, which would allow users to control the amount of light that passes through the camera's lens and reaches the sensor. This would provide greater control over depth of field. However, given that iPhones have smaller image sensors due to smartphone size constraints, it is unclear exactly how meaningful this improvement would be.
  • A20 Pro Chip: Apple's next-generation A20 Pro chip is expected to use TSMC's first-generation 2nm process, whereas the A19 Pro chip is 3nm. With a 2nm architecture and a new packaging design, the A20 Pro chip should deliver solid year-over-year performance and power efficiency gains.
  • C2 Modem: Apple's custom C1 cellular modem for 5G and LTE debuted in the iPhone 16e last year, and that was followed by a C1X chip in the iPhone Air. Apple says the C1X modem is up to twice as fast as the C1 modem, and the most power-efficient modem in an iPhone ever. The improvements should continue with Apple's third-generation C2 modem in the iPhone 18 Pro models.
  • N2 Chip: Most of the iPhone 17 models and the iPhone Air are equipped with an Apple-designed N1 chip that enables Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread. Apple says the N1 chip also improves the overall performance and reliability of features like Personal Hotspot and AirDrop. iPhone 18 Pro models are expected to have Apple's next-generation N2 chip, but it is not yet known what improvements would come with this upgrade.
These are only some of the changes planned for the iPhone 18 Pro models, with others outlined in our iPhone 18 roundup, including these four:
Apple is expected to release the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and a foldable iPhone in September, followed by a standard iPhone 18 model, a lower-end iPhone 18e, and potentially a second-generation iPhone Air early next year.

Any word on material? I'm about ready to upgrade from my 15pro, but I refuse to buy an aluminum frame iPhone.

I am still with my 11Pro - love that phone. But, it is now in the last year due to being put on the retired list by Apple.
